Pre‐ and Post‐Copulatory Sexual Traits Influence Male Fitness Across a Mosaic Hybrid Zone

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 2, February 2025.
We used SNP genotypes to assess and compare male reproductive success in two inter‐breeding species of marsh sparrow—saltmarsh and Nelson's sparrow—and their hybrids. Saltmarsh sparrow males had higher reproductive output, greater variance in reproductive success, and higher levels of multiple paternity than Nelson's sparrows and hybrids.

Deep Learning‐Based Optical Flow in Fine‐Scale Deformation Mapping of Sea Ice Dynamics

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 2, 28 January 2025.
Abstract Optical methods deployed for studying motion and deformation of objects often struggle to distinguish small displacements hidden behind observational noise. In geophysical applications, this has limited analysis to lower spatial and temporal resolutions, while reliable extraction of high‐resolution data is required for understanding material ...

Design and construction of a solid switchable phantom for diffuse optical imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We propose a simple and reliable solid phantom for mimicking realistic localized absorption changes within a diffusive medium. The phantom is based on a solid matrix holding a movable black inclusion embedded in a rod. Translating the rod parallel to the
