Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

NIR‐II Excitation Phototheranostic Platform for Synergistic Photothermal Therapy/Chemotherapy/Chemodynamic Therapy of Breast Cancer Bone Metastases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
To improve bone metastases treatment efficacy, current strategies are focused on the integration of chemotherapy with phototheranostic. However, the success of phototheranostic approaches is hampered by the limited tissue penetration depth of near ...

Design and application of organic contrast agents for molecular imaging in the second near infrared (NIR-II) window

open access: yesPhotoacoustics, 2022
Optical imaging in the second near-infrared (NIR-II) window has attracted interest in recent years because of the merits of reduced light scattering, minimal autofluorescence from biological tissues and deeper penetration depth in this wavelength range ...

Depth‐Resolved Localization Microangiography in the NIR‐II Window

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2022
AbstractDetailed characterization of microvascular alterations requires high‐resolution 3D imaging methods capable of providing both morphological and functional information. Existing optical microscopy tools are routinely used for microangiography, yet offer suboptimal trade‐offs between the achievable field of view and spatial resolution with the ...

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Cationic conjugated polymer coupled non-conjugated segments for dually enhanced NIR-II fluorescence and lower-temperature photothermal-gas therapy

open access: yesJournal of Nanobiotechnology
The lack of a simple design strategy to obtain ideal conjugated polymers (CPs) with high absorbance and fluorescence (FL) in the near-infrared-II (NIR-II; 1000–1700 nm) region still hampers the success of NIR-II light-triggered phototheranostics. Herein,

A 25 micron-thin microscope for imaging upconverting nanoparticles with NIR-I and NIR-II illumination. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Rationale: Intraoperative visualization in small surgical cavities and hard-to-access areas are essential requirements for modern, minimally invasive surgeries and demand significant miniaturization. However, current optical imagers require multiple hard-

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

Organic Fluorophores for 1064 nm Excited NIR-II Fluorescence Imaging

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2021
Second near-infrared window (NIR-II) fluorescence imaging has shown great potential in the field of bioimaging. However, the excitation wavelengths of most NIR-II fluorescence dyes are in the first near-infrared (NIR-I) region, which leads to limited ...
