Preprocessing NIR Spectra for Aquaphotomics

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Even though NIR spectroscopy is based on the Beer–Lambert law, which clearly relates the concentration of the absorbing elements with the absorbance, the measured spectra are subject to spurious signals, such as additive and multiplicative effects. The use of NIR spectra, therefore, requires a preprocessing step.

Near Infrared Spectroscopy: Rapid and Simultaneous Approach to Predict the Fixed Carbon, Volatile Matter and Ash Contents in Biochar Produced from Agricultural Residues

open access: yesActa Technologica Agriculturae, 2022
Presented paper aimed to employ the near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) as a rapid and simultaneous method for quality assessment of biochar samples made of agricultural waste materials (chatter bamboo; firewood; coconut shell). Spectral data were obtained

STUDY OF DIFFUSIVE MEDIA WITH LOW SCATTERING HETEROGENEITIES

open access: yesAnales (Asociación Física Argentina), 2022
Biological tissues have the particularity of allowing light between 600 and 900 nm, within a range called optical window, to penetrate them a few centimeters. This characteristic arouses interest in the near infrared light for its use as a diagnosis tool,

Determination of chemical properties in ‘calçot’ (Allium cepa L.) by near infrared spectroscopy and multivariate calibration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
‘Calçots’, the immature floral stems of second-year onion resprouts, are an economically important traditional crop in Catalonia (Spain). Classical approaches to evaluating the chemical properties of ‘calçots’ are time consuming and expensive; near ...

Evaluation the nutrient composition of extracted sunflower meal samples, determined with wet chemistry and near infrared spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Central European Agriculture, 2023
Twenty extracted sunflower meal (SFM) samples were collected and analysed with classical laboratory methods and near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). From the results, the variance of the nutrients, the accuracy of NIRS prediction and the interaction of the

Time and time-frequency analysis of near-infrared signals for the assessment of ozone autohemotherapy long-term effects in multiple sclerosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ozone autohemotherapy is an emerging therapeutic technique that is gaining increasing importance in treating neurological disorders. A validated and standard methodology to assess the effect of such therapy on brain metabolism and circulation is however ...

Brain-Switches for Asynchronous Brain−Computer Interfaces: A Systematic Review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A brain–computer interface (BCI) has been extensively studied to develop a novel communication system for disabled people using their brain activities. An asynchronous BCI system is more realistic and practical than a synchronous BCI system, in that, BCI

Estimation of mineral content in forages by near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2002
In 100 dried samples of forages, harvested three or four times during 1997 and 1999 in different morphological stages the macro- (Ca, P, Mg, K and Na) and trace- (Zn, Mn and Se) mineral contents were determined by chemical methods and by near infrared ...

DHA-rich oil modulates the cerebral haemodynamic response to cognitive tasks in healthy young adults: a near IR spectroscopy pilot study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The impact of dietary n-3 PUFA on behavioural outcomes has been widely researched; however, very little attention has been given to their impact on brain functioning in physiological terms.

Cerebral near-infrared spectroscopy in term newborns: reference values and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy

open access: yesActa Medica Martiniana, 2019
Non-invasive measurement of cerebral tissue oxygenation (cStO2) using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is attracting an increasing attention not only in neonatology. The vast diversity of commercially available NIRS devices makes it difficult to compare
