Martensitic Transformation of NiTi and NiTi-TiC Composites
Journal de Physique IV, 1995Calorimetry and internal friction were used to study the martensitic phase transformation of shape-memory metal matrix composites consisting of nearly equiatomic NiTi with up to 20 vol.% TiC particles. The start and final temperatures for the austenite-martensite transformation (M s , Mf) and martensite-austenite transformation (A s , A f ) arc lower ...

Abstract In this paper, the experimental study and confirmation of the memristive behavior demonstrated by nanowires made of a smart alloy, namely NiTi, are presented. Further contribution to the characterization of the proposed novel NiTi memristor, included measurements in the ac domain, confirming the memristive nature of these NiTi wires/devices.

New data are reported which show that the cycles to failure for NiTi are related exponentially to cyclic strain extent (difference between maximum and minimum cyclic strain) to at least 2×105 cycles. The relationship is apparently insensitive to thermodynamic cycle type or to stress/strain mode, but does show strong dependence on the NiTi martensite ...

Fabrication and characterization of NiTi/Ti3SiC2 and NiTi/Ti2AlC composites
Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2014Abstract Spark plasma sintering (SPS) was used as a fast consolidation technique to reduce reactions during powder consolidation of highly reactive systems (shape memory alloy/ternary carbide composites), which could not otherwise be fabricated using conventional methods.

Depositions of Nitrogen on NiTi Instruments
Journal of Endodontics, 2002This study was designed to obtain nitrogen-rich layers on the surfaces of endodontic files made of nickel-titanium (NiTi) alloy by chemical vapor deposition. Experimental samples (GT rotary instruments) were deposited by using two different methods.

Niti and NiTi-TiC composites: Part III. shape-memory recovery
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 1996The transformation behavior of near-equiatomic NiTi containing 0, 10, and 20 vol pct TiC particulates is investigated by dilatometry. Undeformed composites exhibit a macroscopic transformation strain larger than predicted when assuming that the elastic transformation mismatch between the matrix and the particulates is unrelaxed, indicating that the ...
