Oxidation of an NiTi alloy

Surface and Interface Analysis, 1990
Abstract In this study, the oxidation of the surface of a 50/50 (at.%) NiTi alloy was studied by XPS, AES and SEM. Samples of the NiTi alloy were oxidized at 23°C and high temperatures at an oxygen pressure of 10 −4 Torr and in atmosphere. At 10 −4

Hysteresis in NiTi alloys

Journal de Physique IV (Proceedings), 2004
Large changes in hysteresis are reported as a function of applied stress under thermal cycling experiments in NiTi single crystals. In the low Ni alloy the thermal hysteresis expanded with increasing stress while in the high Ni alloy the thermal hysteresis contracted with increasing stress.

Detwinning in NiTi alloys

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 2003
This work focuses on the stress-induced transformation in solutionized and overaged single-crystal NiTi alloys. The potential role of detwinning on the recoverable strains was investigated both theoretically and also with temperature-cycling experiments. The detwinning is the growth of one variant within a martensite in expense of the other.

Biocompatibility of NiTi alloys in the cell behaviour

BioMetals, 2017
Metallic biomaterial alloys composed of nickel and titanium have unique thermal shape memory, superelastic, and high damping properties, which are widely used in the medicine. The major parameter evaluated in the studies regarding the behaviour of the material in the contact with organism or cells is biocompatibility.
