Plant phylogeny as a major predictor of flower visitation by nitidulid beetles, a lineage of ancestral angiosperm pollinators

open access: yesJournal of Pollination Ecology, 2021
Plant phylogeny sometimes predicts interspecific variation in pollinator composition better than floral features, and its predictive value seems to differ among major groups of insect pollinators.

Diversity of Insect Flower Visitors of Xylopia aromatica (Magnoliales, Annonaceae) in a Brazilian Savanna

open access: yesDiversity, 2021
Small beetles are important pollinators of Annonaceae whose flower chambers are small and have diurnal and/or nocturnal anthesis. The pollinators of these flowers belong to the families Nitidulidae, Staphylinidae, Chrysomelidae, and Curculionidae.

Genetic diversity in European pollen beetle, Meligethes aeneus (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae), populations assessed using AFLP analysis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2008
The pollen beetle (Meligethes aeneus) is one of the most important insect pests of oilseed rape (Brassica napus), and extensive use of insecticides is required to protect crop yields.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Aulacochilus grouvellei Achard, 1923 (Coleoptera: Erotylidae: Erotylinae) with a phylogenetic analysis of Cucujoidea

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2021
The complete mitochrondiral genome of Aulacochilus grouvellei Achard, 1923 was sequenced using an Illumina HiSeq platform. It represents the first mitochondrial genome of the subfamily Erotylinae.

Transition from bamboo sap to water: Aquatic habits in the sap beetle Amphicrossus japonicus (Coleoptera: Cucujoidea: Nitidulidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2007
Amphicrossus japonicus is the first known facultatively aquatic nitidulid. The adult beetles breed in bamboo sap and subsequently enter water-filled bamboo culms. In water they breathe via a ventral air sheath held by hydrofuge pubescence.

Variabilidade temporal da fauna edáfica e seus grupos funcionais em sistema agroflorestal

open access: yesBiodiversidade Brasileira, 2022
A abundância de indivíduos da fauna edáfica varia substancialmente em função das variações sazonais em ecossistemas subtropicais. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a abundância e diversidade de organismos edáficos em função da sazonalidade em um ...

Identification of Meligethes matronalis and M. subaeneus based on morphometric and ecological characters (Coleoptera: Nitidulidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2001
An analysis of morphometric and bionomic data (as well as the genetic evidence discussed in a companion paper) clearly shows that Meligethes matronalis Audisio & Spornraft, 1990 and M.
