Reduction with zinc — Impact on the determination of nitrite and nitrate ions using microfluidic paper-based analytical devices

open access: yesTalanta Open
We used a microfluidic paper-based analytical device (μPAD) to investigate the influence that zinc reduction exerts on the determination of nitrite and nitrate ions in natural water samples.

Use of Nanoscale Zero-Valent Iron (NZVI) Particles for Chemical Denitrification under Different Operating Conditions

open access: yesMetals, 2015
The nitrate pollution of waters and groundwaters is an important environmental and health concern. An interesting method to remove the oxidized forms of nitrogen from waters and wastewaters is chemical denitrification by means of metallic iron (Fe0 ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Lattice hydrogen transfer in titanium hydride enhances electrocatalytic nitrate to ammonia conversion

open access: yesNature Communications
The electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate toward ammonia under mild conditions addresses many challenges of the Haber-Bosch reaction, providing a sustainable method for ammonia synthesis, yet it is limited by sluggish reduction kinetics and multiple ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction to Ammonia – Recent Progress

open access: yesChemElectroChem, 2023
The presence of nitrate in industrial, domestic and agricultural wastewater has a detrimental impact on both ecosystem and human health, as remediation and purification efforts are slow, challenging and difficult, given the high solubility and stability ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Comparison of the Efficiencies of Zero-Valent Iron Nanoparticles and Stabilized Iron Nanoparticles for Nitrate Reduction from Polluted Waters [PDF]

open access: yesآب و فاضلاب, 2015
The present study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of zero-valent iron nanoparticles (ZVIN) for the removal of nitrate from aqueous solutions. For this purpose, bare zero-valent iron nanoparticles (bare-ZVIN) and CMC-ZVIN were synthesized using ...
