Expanded Nanofibrous Cellulose Electrode Binder: Declustering Lithium Polysulfides for Lean‐Electrolyte Li‒S Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
2,2,6,6‐Tetramethylpiperidin‐1‐oxyl radical (TEMPO)‐oxidized cellulose nanofiber (TOCN) is presented as a class of expanded nanofibrous electrode binders for lean‐electrolyte lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries. Owing to the increased active sites for intermolecular interaction with Li polysulfides (LiPS), the TOCN binder promotes the declustering of LiPS,

Porous Silicon Nanoneedles Efficiently Deliver Adenine Base Editor to Correct a Recurrent Pathogenic COL7A1 Variant in Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Base editing using nanoneedles efficiently corrects pathogenic variants in the type VII collagen gene of primary fibroblasts from patients with recessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. Nanoneedle editing induces minimal and reversible transcriptional perturbations while restoring the production and secretion of functional type VII collagen.

Advancements in Understanding the Physicochemical Properties of Reticular Materials: An In Situ and Operando Spectroscopic Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores how in situ and operando spectroscopic techniques reveal the real‐time behavior of reticular materials, including MOFs and COFs. These methods track material formation and functionalization, structural changes, defect formation, dynamic responses to external triggers, and catalytic processes.

Tuning Transition Metal 3d Spin state on Single‐atom Catalysts for Selective Electrochemical CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The introduction of P into a single‐atom Fe catalyst is shown to induce a shift in its electronic configuration toward a high spin state. This is proposed to enhance electron back donation via the dxz/dyz‐π* bond, which improves *COOH adsorption and facilitates the electrochemical conversion of CO2 to CO.

Autonomous Sensor Exchange and Calibration for Cornstalk Nitrate Monitoring Robot [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Interactive sensors are an important component of robotic systems but often require manual replacement due to wear and tear. Automating this process can enhance system autonomy and facilitate long-term deployment. We developed an autonomous sensor exchange and calibration system for an agriculture crop monitoring robot that inserts a nitrate sensor ...

Cholesteryl nitrolinoleate, a nitrated lipid present in human blood plasma and lipoproteins

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2003
Nitric oxide (•NO) and •NO-derived reactive species (e.g., peroxynitrite anion, nitrogen dioxide radical) react with lipids containing unsaturated fatty acids to generate nitrated species.

Enthalpy‐Driven Molecular Engineering Enables High‐Performance Quasi‐Solid‐State Electrolytes for Long Life Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a co‐polymerization approach using 1,1,1‐trifluoro‐2,3‐epoxypropane to integrate lithium nitrate into poly‐DOL‐based quasi‐solid‐state electrolytes. The resulting electrolyte exhibits high ionic conductivity (2.23 mS cm−1), exceptional Coulombic efficiency (99.34%) in Li|Cu cell, and long‐term stability (2000 cycles in Li|LFP cells)

Traversing the Periodic Table through Phase‐Separating Nanoreactors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Centimeter‐scale arrays of single nanoparticles, generated through either Dip Pen Nanolithography or Polymer Pen Lithography, allow for the discovery of novel nanomaterials at an unprecedented scale. The development of phase‐separating hydrophobic nanoreactors bypasses element‐specific chemistry limitations, enabling the synthesis of polyelemental ...
