Nature, 1879 I INCLOSE the results of some experiments I have lately made to ascertain if the cost of working the nitric acid batteries of Grove and Bunsen could be reduced. I find that the nitric acid can be replaced by a mixture of half nitric and half dilute sulphuric. And the latter gives a higher force for nearly three hours.
