Cold Gas Plasma Induces Platelet Activation and Hemostasis in Native and Anticoagulated Human Blood

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Cold physical gas plasma induces platelet activation and hemostatic responses in native and anticoagulated human blood. Treatment efficacy depends on plasma parameters, including gas composition, distance, and exposure mode, which govern reactive species delivery and energy transfer.

Unlocking a Nitrosuccinate Lyase for Decarboxylative Enzymatic Hydronitration

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The nitrosuccinate lyase CreD catalyzes C–NO2 bond formation using nitrite in water and shows synthetic practicality with high turnover numbers up to 102,000. A combination of protein engineering and computational methods helped to reveal the mechanistic principles that underpin this unique enzymatic activity.

Acidities of Nitrous and Nitric Acids

European Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, 2005
AbstractThe energies of nitrous and nitric acid and their anions were calculated at the MP2(FC)/6‐311++G(2d,2p) level. Their acidity was related to the acidity of hydroxylamine derivatives using isodesmic reactions. This procedure reveals that the molecules of HNO2 and HNO3 are strongly stabilized (by 119 or 206 kJ·mol–1, respectively) but their anions

Aspects of the surface and bulk nitration of cellulose in nitric acid, nitric acid/water, and nitric acid/dichloromethane mixes

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1990
AbstractElectron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA) has been employed to follow the surface nitration of cellulose papers in nitric acid–water and nitric acid–dichloromethane mixes with the aim of: elucidating the identity of the nitrating species in these mixes and from comparison of surface and bulk degree of substitution (DOS) further ...

First-Principles Infrared Spectrum of Nitric Acid and Nitric Acid Monohydrate Crystals

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2004
The spectra of nitric acid and nitric acid monohydrate crystals, including both vibration frequencies and infrared intensities, have been calculated from first principles using the methodology developed for the SIESTA program. In this method, infrared intensities are evaluated from the macroscopic polarization changes with atomic displacements per ...
