Ammonia and Nitric Acid Demands for Fertilizer Use in 2050

ACS Energy Letters, 2021
: Access to nitrogen-based fertilizers is critical to maximize agricultural yield, as nitrogen is the most common rate-limiting nutrient. Nearly all nitrogen-based fertilizers rely on ammonia and nitric acid as feedstocks, and thus the demand for these ...

Photothermal‐Assisted Photocatalytic Nitrogen Oxidation to Nitric Acid on Palladium‐Decorated Titanium Oxide

Advanced Energy Materials, 2022
Industrial nitric acid production involves multistep processes operating at high temperatures and pressures. Photocatalysis offers an alternative approach for directly transforming nitrogen molecules into nitrogen‐containing compounds under ambient ...

Electrochemical Synthesis of Nitric Acid from Nitrogen Oxidation.

Angewandte Chemie, 2021
Nitric acid has been widely applied in agriculture and industries. The present manufacturing process via a combination of the Haber-Bosch process and the Ostwald oxidation process is accompanied by massive energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Direct Conversion of N2 and Air to Nitric Acid in Gas-Water Microbubbles.

Journal of the American Chemical Society
We report a simple, direct, and green conversion of air/N2 to nitric acid by bubbling the gas through an aqueous solution containing 50 μM Fe2+ ions. Air stone, along with ultrasonication, was employed to generate gas microbubbles.

Aggregation Behavior of Alkyldiglycolamides in n-Dodecane Medium during the Extraction of Nd(III) and Nitric Acid

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2018
Diglycolamides (DGAs) are promising reagents for the separation of trivalent actinides and lanthanides from the nitric acid medium. The alkyl group attached to DGAs plays an important role in deciding the extraction and third phase formation behavior of ...

Nitric acid dimers

Journal of Molecular Structure: THEOCHEM, 2005
Abstract Three local minima on the potential energy surface of the nitric acid dimer are located by computations using hybrid density functional theory and second-order Moller–Plesset perturbation theory with a number of basis sets. The global minimum is a cyclic C 2 h structure, with a binding energy of 8.4 kcal/mol, in which the monomers are ...
