The effect of chronic peripheral nesfatin-1 application on blood pressure in normal and chronic restraint stressed rats: Related with circulating level of blood pressure regulators [PDF]
Nesfatin is a peptide secreted by peripheral tissues, central and peripheral nervous system. It is involved in the regulation of homeostasis. Although the effects of nesfatin-1 on nutrition have been studied widely in the literature, the mechanisms of ...

Nitro-fatty acids in plant signaling: New key mediators of nitric oxide metabolism
Recent studies in animal systems have shown that NO can interact with fatty acids to generate nitro-fatty acids (NO2-FAs). They are the product of the reaction between reactive nitrogen species and unsaturated fatty acids, and are considered novel ...

Reactive Oxygen and Nitrogen Species in Plants
Reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS) include two families of molecules that, in recent years, have been shown to be involved in a wide range of biological functions, such as seed and pollen germination, the development and regulation of ...

Experimentally induced root mortality increased nitrous oxide emission from tropical forest soils [PDF]
We conducted an experiment on sand and clay tropical forest soils to test the short‐term effect of root mortality on the soil‐atmosphere flux of nitrous oxide, nitric oxide, methane, and carbon dioxide.

The covalent binding of dexamethasone to the surface of polyimide represents the electrically inert part of implantable intraneural devices. This ensures a sustained release of the drug for 9 weeks. In vitro and in vivo tests confirm the reduction of the foreign body reactions and the improved biocompatibility of dexamethasone functionalized polyimide.

Nitric oxide mediates glutamate neurotoxicity in primary cortical cultures.
Nitric oxide (NO) mediates several biological actions, including relaxation of blood vessels, cytotoxicity of activated macrophages, and formation of cGMP by activation of glutamate receptors in cerebellar slices.

Experimental and analytical study of nitric oxide formation during combustion of propane in a jet-stirred combustor [PDF]
A jet-stirred combustor, constructed of castable zirconia and with an Inconel injector, was used to study nitric oxide formation in propane-air combustion with residence times in the range from 3.2 to 3.3 msec and equivalence ratios varying from 0.7 to 1.
