Analysis and Optimization of Mechanical Properties of Coconut Shell Cellulose Reinforced Polymeric Composite for Industrial Gasket Application

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 8, Issue 6, June 2026.
The study develops a sustainable gasket material from a mixture of treated coconut shell cellulose and epoxy matrix. Design expert statistical software was used for optimizing the mechanical properties. Chemical and thermal stability tests were performed to validate the gaskets' performance in industrial applications.

Eco-friendly synthesis of PET-based polymeric plasticiser and its application in nitrile-PVC rubber blends

open access: yes, 2019
We report a robust synthesis of polymeric plasticiser from the post-consumer plastic waste, i.e. poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and its subsequent use as plasticiser for preparation of nitrile rubber (NBR) and nitrile-PVC rubber blends. PET waste was

Enhancing the Properties of PA6 and PA6/Ionomer Scraps Blend With CaCO3 Nanoparticles: Rheological, Mechanical, Thermal, and Morphological Evaluation

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, Volume 66, Issue 6, Page 4247-4260, June 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the effects of incorporating ionomer scraps and CaCO3 nanoparticles on the rheological, mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties of neat polyamide 6 (PA6) and a PA6/ionomer scraps (80/20) blend. The ionomer formed an immiscible dispersed phase within the PA6, acting as an impact modifier; however, it reduced ...

SEM Study of a Cyclized Rubber Surface

open access: yes, 1977
It has been shown that cyclization of a nitrile rubber produces a brittle surface layer. Microcracks develop when the rubber is flexed and, when stressed, severely deform the underlying rubber into an open, fibrous network.

Investigation of the Friction Properties of Halogenated Modification on the Surface of Nitrile Rubber

open access: yes, 2011
Using a variety of halogenated treatments (fluoridation, bromide treatment, iodide treatment and others) on the surface of nitrile rubber, explore the reaction mechanism and its effect on the friction properties of nitrile rubber. The results showed that

Study of the Thermal Oxidation of Butadiene-Nitrile Elastomers

open access: yes, 1956
1. Processes of destruction and structure formation take place during the thermal oxidation of butadiene-nitrile rubbers. These processes take place simultaneously, and are the result of absorption of oxygen by the rubber molecules. The dominant process,

Experimental investigation of dynamic behavior of rotor-bearing system with nitrile rubber support

open access: yes, 2018
Nitrile rubber (NBR) as a vibration absorber of lower elasticity modulus has a considerable contribution in the effective damping. Three kinds of journal bearings (general journal bearings, journal bearings supported on circular nitrile rubber, journal ...
