Thermometer Ions, Internal Energies, and In‐Source Fragmentation in Ambient Ionization

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ionization and fragmentation are at the core of mass spectrometry. But they are not necessarily separated in space, as in‐source fragmentation can also occur. Here, we survey the literature published since our 2005 review on the internal energy and fragmentation in electrospray ionization sources.

Practical Applications of Secondary/Extractive Electrospray Ionization (SESI): A Versatile Tool for Real‐Time Chemical Analysis

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the 1980s, researchers discovered the remarkable ability of electrospray plumes to effectively ionize gas‐phase molecules via secondary ionization. Around 20 years later—coinciding with the ambient mass spectrometry revolution—secondary electrospray ionization (SESI) and extractive electrospray ionization (EESI) coupled to mass spectrometry

Proteomics of Nitrotyrosine: Integrating Mass Spectrometry and Immunodetection in Redox‐Driven Pathology

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Nitrooxidative stress, driven by excess reactive nitrogen species like peroxynitrite, contributes to the pathogenesis of many chronic diseases. Among its molecular footprints, 3‐nitrotyrosine (3NT) has emerged as a biologically relevant marker of protein nitration.

Engineering Pd Nanostructures on Hierarchical Flower‐Like Alumina Nanosheets for the Efficient Catalytic Reduction of 4‐Nitrophenol

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Palladium nanocubes and nanoparticles supported on nanosheet‐assembled alumina (NA‐Al2O3) were investigated as highly efficient catalysts for the reduction of 4‐nitrophenol. Systematic comparisons highlight the roles of nanoparticle morphology and support structure, with PdNC@NA and PdNP@NA showing superior activity and stability over commercial Al2O3 ...
