Remote Modulation of Single‐Atom Catalyst Boosts High‐Valent Cobalt–Oxo Species Generation for Water Purification and Detoxification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a phosphorus‐doped cobalt single‐atom catalyst that enhances high‐valent cobalt–oxo species generation for water purification. This atomic‐level tuning boosts the catalyst's activity by 3.5 times, enabling efficient pollutant degradation. A continuous‐flow reactor achieves high, long‐term removal efficiency, producing water with low

Sabatier‐Adjusted d‐Band Centers of Scalable Asymmetric Iron Sites toward Dynamic Nonradical Network for Fast Mineralization with Low‐Amount Oxidant

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Asymmetric iron single‐atom catalysts with Sabatier‐adjusted d‐band centers overcome the inherent limitations of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation by establishing a synergistic nonradical pathway network, achieving exceptional pollutant mineralization (≈85%) at only one‐tenth conventional PMS dosage.

Comparative study on the gas to solution phase solvation free energies of model combustion flue gas compounds (N~2~, O~2~, CO~2~, H~2~O, SO~2~, and CO) in 178 organic solvents using the IEFPCM-UFF, CPCM, and SMD implicit solvent models at the Gaussian-4 (G4) level of theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Gas to solution phase Gibbs free energies of solvation at 298.15 K for transfer of six representative combustion flue gas compounds (N~2~, O~2~, CO~2~, H~2~O, SO~2~, and CO) were calculated at the Gaussian-4 (G4) level of theory using the IEFPCM-UFF ...

Biochar supported sulfide-modified nanoscale zero-valent iron for the reduction of nitrobenzene

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2018
Sulfide-modified nanoscale zerovalent iron (S-nZVI) was effectively utilized for the reduction of various contaminants, despite its applicability being limited due to agglomeration, oxidation and electron loss.

Ce‐Doped Lignin‐Based Nanozyme with Heat‐Activated Hydrolase Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel Ce‐doped lignin‐based hydrolase nanozyme (Ce‐AL) is synthesized using Ce ions coordinated with aminated industrial lignin. The Ce‐AL effectively hydrolyzes phosphate ester bonds and protein amide bonds, maintain high activity at 100°C, and successfully fights bacteria biofilms.

Metal phthalocyanine intermediates for the preparation of polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Metal 4, 4', 4"",-tetracarboxylic phthalocyanines (MPTC) are prepared by reaction of trimellitic anhydride, a salt or hydroxide of the desired metal (or the metal in powdered form), urea and a catalyst.

A Generalized Approach for Distal C–H Arylation of Organic Building Blocks: Unveiling the Role of Counter Anion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a general strategy for meta‐selective C–H arylation using aryl iodides and a Pd(II)/Pd(IV) catalytic system guided by a removable directing group. DFT and experimental studies reveal that counter anion tuning (acetate to trifluoroacetate) significantly enhances selectivity.

Electrocatalytic reduction of trace nitrobenzene using a graphene-oxide@polymerized-manganese-porphyrin composite

open access: yesRSC Advances, 2019
A core–shell structure electrocatalyst for trace nitrobenzene reduction was prepared with Mn(ii)[5,10,15,20-tetra(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin] (MnTAPP) and graphene oxide (GO) as raw materials. Firstly, MnTAPP and GO were combined together by covalent bonds,

Catalyst Layer Modifications for Enhanced Performance of Fluorine‐Free Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
Considerable improvement in the performance of fully‐hydrocarbon‐based fuel cells is necessary to replace and compete with Per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances‐containing fuel cells. Herein, a way to enhance the ionic conductivity of the catalyst layer (CL) by incorporating insoluble ionomer particles into the CL is presented.
