A data-driven reduced-order model for fast prediction of resonant acoustic flow under vertical vibration based on secondary decomposition

open access: yesAIP Advances
Accurate dimensionality reduction models are crucial for constructing real-time computational digital twin systems for process equipment. To deepen the understanding of acoustic resonance flow mechanisms and optimize equipment design, a high-precision ...

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Biomimetic synthesis of vesicular covalent organic frameworks by gemini surfactants for in-situ enzyme cascade immobilization

open access: yesNature Communications
In nature, enzymes in biofilms often lack robustness and chemical functionality. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as a robust platform for enzyme immobilization, but mimicking biofilm structures for in-situ enzyme immobilization remains ...

Microplastics affect sedimentary microbial communities and nitrogen cycling

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Microplastics are ubiquitous in estuarine, coastal, and deep sea sediments. The impacts of microplastics on sedimentary microbial ecosystems and biogeochemical carbon and nitrogen cycles, however, have not been well reported. To evaluate if microplastics

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

What Did We Learn From Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR)-Grass Associations Studies Through Proteomic and Metabolomic Approaches?

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainable Food Systems, 2020
Plant growth stimulation by microorganisms that interact in a mutually beneficial manner remains poorly understood. Understanding the nature of plant-bacteria interactions may open new routes for plant productivity enhancement, especially cereal crops ...

Peptide‐based ligand antagonists block a Vibrio cholerae adhesin

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The structure of a peptide‐binding domain of the Vibrio cholerae adhesin FrhA was solved by X‐ray crystallography, revealing how the inhibitory peptide AGYTD binds tightly at its Ca2+‐coordinated pocket. Structure‐guided design incorporating D‐amino acids enhanced binding affinity, providing a foundation for developing anti‐adhesion therapeutics ...

Nitrogen retention/enrichment of 316LN austenitic stainless steel welds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The development of nitrogen enriched austenitic stainless steels has been a source of recent interest due to the abundant availability of nitrogen and by the manner in which nitrogen contributes several beneficial material property effects over a wide ...

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...
