Nitrogen oxide emissions after nitrogen additions in tropical forests

Nature, 1999
Industrial development and agricultural intensification are projected to increase in the humid tropics over the next few decades1, increasing the emissions, transport and deposition of nitrogen-containing compounds2. Most studies of the consequences of enhanced nitrogen deposition have been performed in temperate ecosystems in which biological ...

The impact of nitrogen enrichment on grassland ecosystem stability depends on nitrogen addition level

Science of The Total Environment, 2018
Increasing atmospheric nitrogen (N) deposition may affect plant biodiversity, subsequently altering ecosystem stability. While a few studies have explored how simulated N deposition affects community stability and its underlying mechanisms, the experimental levels of N addition used are usually higher than current and future N deposition rates.

Nucleophilic Additions to Unsaturated Nitrogen

2010
This chapter deals with enantioselective organocatalytic nucleophilic additions to N=N double bonds and N=O double bonds. In contrast to the large number of addition reactions to C=O and C=N double bonds, only a few examples of nucleophilic addition to N=N double bonds have been investigated.

Nitrogen chemistry in FBC with limestone addition

Symposium (International) on Combustion, 1996
A laboratory study of NO and N 2 O formation from limestone-catalyzed HCN oxidation under fluidizedbed combustion (FBC) conditions is reported. The experiments include the influence of NO and O 2 on HCN oxidation over calcined limestone, formation of CaCN 2 by reaction between HCN and calcined limestone, and oxidation of CaCN 2 and simultaneous HCN ...

Nitrogenation of Sm2Fe17 alloy with Ta addition

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1996
Abstract The nitrogenation behaviour of a SmFeTa based alloy which can be used for the preparation of SmFeN based permanent magnets has been described. Diffusion experiments on thin polished plates provided the nitrogenation processing parameters.

On the oxygen addition into nitrogen post-discharges

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2009
It is well known that the dissociation degree of nitrogen can be substantially increased if a small amount of oxygen is added into an active discharge. In this work it is experimentally shown that a very similar phenomenon occurs also when oxygen is added into the nitrogen late post-discharge.

Additions and Losses of Nitrogen in Grassland Ecosystems

BioScience, 1978
Current concepts related to the longterm input-output dynamics of nutrients in ecosystems have been formulated from information that is technically difficult or impossible to obtain and interpret. In the void of reliable data, many assumptions of an inherent steady state in climax ecosystems have been made (i.e., when succession has progressed to ...

Additions to the Spectrum of the Neutral Nitrogen Atom

Physica Scripta, 1986
The high-frequency excitation of atomic nitrogen has been studied in the vacuum ultraviolet. Intensities and wavelengths have been listed for further 146 N I lines. The analysis has given 26 new N I levels. Small corrections to the levels 2p3 2P1/2 and 2P3/2 improving the connexion of the high levels, have not altered these.
