Nitrogen dioxide plumes reveal areas of industrialization: part 2

open access: yes, 2016
Nitrogen dioxide is a toxic compound, often associated with an orange-brown color, and is a major air pollutant, especially in industrial areas. This image is a composite of one month of data during September 2010. It shows very large concentrations over

Machine Learning Accelerated Computational Design of Bio‐Inspired Catalysts in the Nitrogen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a computational workflow that combines quantum chemical calculations and machine learning techniques to predict the catalytic performance of a wide range of catalysts in the nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR). The analysis of the trained models provides insights into the complex structure–activity relationship in experimental catalytic ...

Nitrogen dioxide calibration standards for portable monitors [PDF]

open access: yes
"Mine operators and Mine Safety and Health Administration inspectors use portable gas monitors in underground mines to measure worker exposure to various gases such as methane, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen dioxide (NO2).

Mass Spectrometric Investigation of the Influence of Water Vapour and Oxygen on Gas‐Phase Reactions of Aluminium Acetylacetonate

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The gas‐phase decomposition of Al(acac)3 is investigated under inert, oxygen, and water‐containing conditions. Water is found to promote selective ligand removal and suppress hydrocarbon formation, while oxygen induces faster, less selective decomposition pathways.

Modeling Dispersion of Pollutant Gases Emitted from the Chimney of Sahand Thermal Power Plant Using SCREEN View Software [PDF]

open access: yesMuhandisī-i Bihdāsht-i Muḥīṭ
Background: This study aims to investigate the dispersion of pollutant gases emitted from the Sahand thermal power plant's chimney and determine the maximum concentration of these pollutants in the surrounding areas.

Preliminary Assessment of Air Pollution in the Archaeological Museum of Naples (Italy): Long Term Monitoring of Nitrogen Dioxide and Nitrous Acid

open access: yesAir
A project to assess air pollution at the National Archeological Museum in Naples was carried out. The main goal of the project was to develop and test a reliable yet simple monitoring system to be adopted at the same time in several exposition rooms ...

Atomic Layer Deposition of Metallic Molybdenum Dioxide Thin Films Enabling High‐k Rutile Capacitors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The first direct atomic layer deposition (ALD) process of molybdenum dioxide (MoO2) thin films is reported using molybdenum(II) acetate dimer (Mo2(OAc)4) and oxygen (O2) as precursors at 235°C–275°C. The films are crystalline, exceptionally pure, and conductive.

Abrupt recent trend changes in atmospheric nitrogen dioxide over the Middle East

open access: yesScience Advances, 2015
Space observations of the Middle East show that geopolitics and armed conflict have drastically altered air pollution emissions. Nitrogen oxides, released from fossil fuel use and other combustion processes, affect air quality and climate.

Nitrogen and sulfur deposition on regional and global scales : a multimodel evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
[1] We use 23 atmospheric chemistry transport models to calculate current and future (2030) deposition of reactive nitrogen (NOy, NHx) and sulfate (SOx) to land and ocean surfaces.
