Accounting for animal health in efficiency analysis: An application to Swedish dairy farms

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Poor animal health is a central concern in modern livestock production. Despite the necessity to incorporate animal health in efficiency analysis, the theoretical and empirical developments are limited on this subject. This article appropriately characterizes the axiomatic properties of animal health within a production framework.

Choice experiments on land managers' participation in environmental programs: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of estimate validity

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Discrete choice experiments are increasingly being used to estimate land managers' willingness to accept participation in incentive‐based environmental programs. This is a specific application of discrete choice experiments: the estimation of willingness to accept for a private good (program participation) where respondents have to make trade ...

Wpływ zróżnicowanego nawożenia azotem na jakość technologiczną odmian pszenicy ozimej uprawianych w monokulturze

open access: yesAgronomy Science, 2004
The two-year studies of grain of three winter wheat cultivars: Zyta, Clever and Kris cultivated in monoculture on six levels of fertilization nitrogen: 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 kg/ha of clean component, were executed.

Genetic variation for nutrient use efficiency in maize under different tillage and fertilization regimes with special emphasis to plant microbe interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Conservation tillage (no-till and reduced tillage) brings many benefits with respect to soil fertility and energy use, but it also has drawbacks regarding the need for synthetic fertilizers and herbicides.

Technobiological Pathways for High‐CO₂ Capture Using Micro‐/Macroalgae: Genetic Engineering, Process Automation, and Value‐Added Bioproducts

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have emerged as one of the most critical drivers of climate change; this is primarily due to high concentrations and long atmospheric life of carbon dioxide (CO2). For a significant amount of time, various biological processes such as microalgal cultivation, cyanobacterial systems, photosynthetic microorganisms ...

EFFECTS OF MANURE AND MINERAL FERTILIZER APPLICATION ON CRUDE PROTEIN CONTENT OF LUCERNE (MEDICAGO SATIVA L.)

open access: yesFUUAST Journal of Biology, 2012
Effects of mineral and manure fertilization on crude protein content of lucerne (Medicago sativa L.) was studied in field trial carried out at the Institute of Forage Crops, Pleven, Bulgaria. The doses of 70, 140 and 210 kg N ha-1 were tested.

Enabling the study of gene function in gymnosperms: Virus‐induced gene silencing in Ephedra tweedieana

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise As the sister clade to angiosperms, extant gymnosperms are crucial for reconstructing ancestral gene regulatory networks in seed plants. This highlights the need for model systems representing each of their distinct lineages. However, tools to quickly and effectively investigate gene function in gymnosperms are still limited due to the

Real‐time monitoring of root dielectric properties for assessing crop plant damage caused by foliar application of glyphosate

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise There is a knowledge gap regarding how foliar injury and restricted water uptake can be detected by measuring root dielectric response. This pot study nondestructively evaluated the efficiency of real‐time dielectric measurement to monitor the effects of glyphosate spraying.
