Wrinkled Strain‐Enriched High‐Entropy Metallene Enables Cross‐Site Tandem Nitrate‐to‐Ammonia

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
A wrinkled 2D PdFeCoNiCuIn high‐entropy metallene overcomes the low atom utilization of high‐entropy alloys. Indium‐induced strain and p‐d hybridization enable a cross‐site tandem pathway for nitrate reduction to ammonia. It achieves 99.3% Faradaic efficiency and an NH3 yield rate of 4.55 mmol h−1 mgcat−1.

Changes of Tropane Alkaloids in Black Henbane (Hyoscyamus niger L.) in Response to Different Types of Nitrogenous Fertilizers

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Plants, 2017
Background: Since alkaloids are nitrogenous compounds, the availability of nitrogen (N) is expected to play an important role in the biosynthesis and accumulation of alkaloids in plants.

Towards efficient utilization of nitrogen based fertilizers

open access: yes, 2014
This book explains some of the sustainable ways of utilizing readily available resources such as humic acids, acid sulphates, and zeolites to improve nitrogen use efficiency.

A comparison between legume technologies and fallow, and their effects on maize and soil traits, in two distinct environments of the West African savannah

open access: yes, 2008
Legume¿maize rotation and maize nitrogen (N)-response trials were carried out simultaneously from 1998 to 2004 in two distinct agro-ecological environments of West Africa: the humid derived savannah (Ibadan) and the drier northern Guinea savannah (Zaria).

Cost‐Benefit Analysis of the European Union Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism in Fertilizer Trade

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), launching 2026, will charge EU importers for embedded carbon emissions, aiming to reduce emissions but raising import costs. Shifts in demand following implementation may reduce carbon emissions, but importers will bear the cost of increased prices.

Evolution of Biogenic Nitrogen from Digestates for Lettuce Fertilization and the Effect on the Bacterial Community

open access: yesHorticulturae
Among the many inputs, nitrogen fertilizers are the main yield-limiting factor in agriculture. Liquid fractions of digestates can be a most promising substitute to synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, using little energy to turn waste into valuable ...

The effects of root nitrogen supplies on the absorption of atmospheric NO2 by soybean leaves

open access: yes, 1997
Twelve-day-old soybean plants were exposed to atmospheric NO2 (0.3 μl 1-1) and simultaneously supplied, via the roots; with 5 mM or 1 mM of NaNO3 or NH4Cl.

Food Prices and Inflation Expectations in New Zealand

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food prices are conspicuous, and spending on food constitutes a considerable share of household expenditure. In this study, we use partially identified Bayesian structural vector autoregression models to analyze the effects of food price shocks on core inflation and 1‐ and 5‐year inflation expectations in New Zealand.
