Nitrogen diffusion in zinc oxide [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2021
Nitrogen migration in ZnO was investigated by nitrogen isotope diffusion. The samples were deposited using plasma-assisted pulsed laser deposition. Nitrogen concentration depth profiles were obtained from secondary-ion-mass spectrometry measurements, and in gas effusion measurements, the molecular nitrogen flux was measured as a function of the heating

Absorption and Oxidation of Nitrogen Oxide in Ionic Liquids [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, 2016
AbstractA new strategy for capturing nitrogen oxide, NO, from the gas phase is presented. Dilute NO gas is removed from the gas phase by ionic liquids under ambient conditions. The nitrate anion of the ionic liquid catalyzes the oxidation of NO to nitric acid by atmospheric oxygen in the presence of water.

Nitrogen oxides in the troposphere – What have we learned from satellite measurements?

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2009
Nitrogen oxides are key species in the troposphere where they are linked to ozone formation and acid rain. The sources of nitrogen oxides are anthropogenic to large extend, mainly through combustion of fossil fuels.

Air pollution by nitrogen oxides in Sarajevo from 2005 to 2010

open access: yesJournal of Health Sciences, 2013
Introduction: Air pollution occurs when the concentration of certain substances (pollutants) reaches a size which causes its toxicity, or in other words, begins to cause harm to human health, fl ora and wildlife.

REDUCTION OF NOx BY MEANS OF UREA INJECTION -ROVINARIPOWER PLANT CASE [PDF]

open access: yesAnalele Universităţii "Constantin Brâncuşi" din Târgu Jiu: Seria Inginerie, 2018
The paper examines how nitrogen in the fuel is a pollutant. The mechanism of formation of nitrogen oxides is presented: is a function of excess air, coal age (volatile matter content), and function of temperature in the

Shipping nitrogen oxides recycling via isoprene nitrate amplifies forest ozone

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Forests are essential for climate stability, yet elevated ozone levels-exacerbated by poorly understood impacts of shipping-related nitrogen oxides, stress these ecosystems.

Influence of Pollutants from Transport on Life Expectancy in the EU Countries

open access: yesProblemy Ekorozwoju, 2021
Road transport has become the major source of environmental pollution and it is also one of the biggest environmental risks in the EU countries. Good air quality is very important for population as pollutants have negative impacts on human health.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...
