Clearing the Air: How Fine Particulate Matter Regulations Reshape Farmland Values in U.S. Corn and Soybean Regions

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate the impact of air quality regulations targeting fine particulate matter (PM2.5) on farmland values in corn and soybean producing counties in the United States over the period 1997–2022. Using self‐reported farmland value data from the Agricultural Census and county‐level pollution classifications provided by the Environmental ...

Bridging the Late Antique Gap in Northwest Arabia: New Archaeological Evidence on the Occupation of Wādī al‐Qurā (al‐ʿUlā [AlUla], Saudi Arabia) Between the Third and Seventh Centuries CE

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2019, the Dadan Archaeological Project (CNRS/RCU/AFALULA) identified a Late Antique village 1 km south of ancient Dadan in the al‐ʿUlā valley (northwest Saudi Arabia). Three excavation seasons at this site (2021–2023) have uncovered a massive building constructed in the late third or early fourth cent.

SCORTEN and Novel Prognostic Markers in Stevens–Johnson Syndrome/Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stevens–Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) is a rare, severe skin reaction with high mortality, most often triggered by medications. Early identification of patients at risk is essential for guiding treatment. The SCORTEN score, comprising seven clinical and laboratory variables, is widely used to predict mortality but may ...

WEED INFESTATION OF WINTER WHEAT IN DIFFERENT TILLAGE SYSTEMS AND LEVEL OF NITROGEN IN TOP DRESSING

open access: yes, 2022
Growing technology, especially tillage and fertilization of economically important crop species such as wheat, plays a very important role in weed control. Successful weed control in the crop in turn significantly affects the formation of grain yield, both in quantity and quality.

Toll‐like receptor 4 mediates lipopolysaccharide‐induced emesis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induces inflammation and sepsis through Toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) activation. Common laboratory animals do not exhibit emesis, but administration of LPS in piglets, cats, and dogs induces emesis via peripheral mechanisms.

THE METHOD OF APPLYING NITROGEN RATES IN TOP-DRESSING AFFECTS COMMON BEAN PERFORMANCE

open access: yesNativa
Proper nitrogen management helps to optimize the use of chemical fertilizers, making it necessary to identify optimal rates and methods of application to obtain high yield. The aim was to evaluate the effect of application methods of nitrogen rates in top-dressing on the agronomic and qualitative characteristics of common bean.

Defining the geographical level of competition: a taxonomy of industry tradability

open access: yesEconomica, EarlyView.
Abstract The paper develops a taxonomy of industry tradability to define the geographical level at which competition takes place. First, it creates a novel dataset that combines production and international trade data for both goods and services industries, defined at a detailed (3‐digit) level of industry aggregation for 15 European countries.

A Joint Pest Management Model for the Bean Fly Complex, Ophiomyia spencerella and Ophiomyia phaseoli (Diptera: Agromyzidae)

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The common bean is an important crop in Eastern Africa for smallholder farmers, yet yields are often reduced due to pests, particularly Ophiomyia spencerella and Ophiomyia phaseoli. These species are partially sympatric and commonly known as the bean fly. Here, based on the similarity of their life history and developmental biology, field data
