Decomposition reactions of 4‐nitropyridine
Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1951Abstract4‐Nitropyridine is converted into a mixture containing salts of N‐(4′‐pyridyl)‐4‐pyridone and 4‐pyridone, when kept at room temperature for some weeks. The mechanism of this decomposition reaction is discussed.

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 2000
The structure of the title compound, C22H18N6O4, (I), comprises two unique molecules that separately form hydrogen-bonded polymer chains via N—H⋯N interactions. Molecular independence arises due to a difference in the dihedral angles between the linked rings, i.e. 52.19 (4) and 46.17 (5)°.

Homolytic ethoxycarbonylation of 3-nitropyridines
Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, 1997The homolytic ethoxycarbonylation of alkyl-3-nitropyridines has been accomplished for the first time by the action of ethyl pyruvate and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of ferrous sulfate.

The oxidative amination of 3-nitropyridines
Tetrahedron Letters, 2001Abstract 3-Nitropyridine was reacted with ammonia or alkylamines and KMnO4 under several different conditions. Substitutions in the para position to the nitro group were obtained with high regioselectivity: with ammonia, 2-amino-5-nitropyridine (66%), with butylamine, 2-butylamino-5-nitropyridine (92%), with diethylamine, 2-diethylamino-5 ...

Crystal structure of 2-nitropyridine
Chemistry of Heterocyclic Compounds, 1998The crystal structure of 2-nitropyridine has been determined by x-ray diffraction analysis. The influence of the nitro group on the geometric parameters of the molecule was evaluated, as well as its influence on the molecular parameters of other nitropyridines, depending on the position of this group in the pyridine ring.

Oxidative methylamination of some nitropyridines
Journal für praktische Chemie, 19992-, 3-, 4-Nitropyridine (1a, i, j) and some simple derivatives of 3-nitropyridine (1b-h) undergo dehydro-methylamination in a solution of potassium permanganate in liquid methylamine. In the case of 2- and 6-chloro and 6-methoxy derivatives of 3-nitropyridine (1b-d) dechloro- or demethoxy-methylamination occurs as well.

Substituted 5-nitro-2-ethynylpyridines were synthesized by the Sonogashira reaction of 2-bromo-5-5-nitropyridine with terminal acetylenes. Desilylation, oxidative decarbonylation, and the retro-Favorskii reaction of the cross-coupling products of 2-bromo-5-nitropyridine with trimethylsilylacetylene, prop-2-ynyl alcohol, and 2-methylbut-3-yn-2-ol ...

The crystal structures of four compounds from a family of commonly used molecular building blocks of nonlinear optical materials, aminonitropyridines, have been determined. The structures of 2-amino-5-nitropyridine 1, 2-amino-5-nitropyridine monohydrate 2, and of two new polymorphs of 2-amino-3-nitropyridine 3,4, are all stabilised by a combination of ...
