Tackling the growing burden of nitrous oxide-induced public health harms
Summary: Nitrous oxide has been increasing in popularity as a recreational drug in the past decade, and with this an increase in health harms related to nitrous oxide use, particularly nitrous oxide-induced myeloneuropathy.

Stable isotope fractionation during ultraviolet photolysis of N_2O [PDF]
The biogeochemical cycling of nitrous oxide plays an important role in greenhouse forcing and ozone regulation. Laboratory studies of N_2O:N_2 mixtures irradiated between 193–207 nm reveal a significant enrichment of the residual heavy nitrous oxide ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Experimentally induced root mortality increased nitrous oxide emission from tropical forest soils [PDF]
We conducted an experiment on sand and clay tropical forest soils to test the short‐term effect of root mortality on the soil‐atmosphere flux of nitrous oxide, nitric oxide, methane, and carbon dioxide.

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

A model of nitrous oxide evolution from soil driven by rainfall events: 1. Model structure and sensitivity [PDF]
This paper describes a rain-event driven, process-oriented simulation model, DNDC, for the evolution of nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), and dinitrogen (N2) from agricultural soils.
