Effective Penetration of the Oxidized Keratin‐Rebonding Materials Into Hair Shafts Based on Charge Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We have developed a smart hair‐repair ingredient based on β‐carboxylic acid amide that undergoes negative‐to‐positive charge conversion under mildly acidic conditions. The initial negative charge facilitates deep penetration into the hair fiber, while the subsequent positive charge enables re‐bonding with sulfonate groups in damaged hair keratin.

How accurately can we measure the W cross section?

open access: yes, 2004
We study the QCD sources of systematic uncertainties in the experimental extraction of the W cross section at hadron colliders. The uncertainties appear in the evaluation of the detector acceptances used to convert the number of observed events into a ...

Heavy-quark mass effects in Higgs boson production at the LHC [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We study the impact of heavy-quark masses in Higgs boson production through gluon fusion at the LHC. We extend previous computations of the fully differential cross section and of the transverse momentum spectrum of the Higgs boson by taking into account

Dimensionally Resolved Nanostructures of an Atomically Precise and Optically Active 1D van der Waals Helix

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The ability to grow nanostructures based on inorganic helical crystals with long‐range order will enable a platform to realize physical states that arise from chirality. Herein, it is demonstrated that controlled vapor phase deposition of an atomically precise helical crystal, GaSI, into ultrathin 1D nanowires and quasi‐2D nanoribbons.

Next-to-leading-order QCD and electroweak corrections to WWW production at proton-proton colliders

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
Triple-W-boson production in proton-proton collisions allows for a direct access to the triple and quartic gauge couplings and provides a window to the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. It is an important process to test the Standard Model (SM)

NLO EW and QCD corrections to polarized ZZ production in the four-charged-lepton channel at the LHC

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Measuring the polarization of electroweak bosons at the LHC allows for important tests of the electroweak-symmetry-breaking mechanism that is realized in nature.

NLO electroweak corrections in extended Higgs Sectors with RECOLA2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present the computer code RECOLA2 along with the first NLO electroweak corrections to Higgs production in vector-boson fusion and updated results for Higgs strahlung in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model and Higgs-Singlet extension of the Standard Model.

Ferroelectric Fluids for Nonlinear Photonics: Evaluation of Temperature Dependence of Second‐Order Susceptibilities

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Nonlinear optical susceptibilities of five different materials that exhibit the ferroelectric nematic phase, as well as smectic A ferroelectric phase, are determined. The materials investigated include archetypal molecular architectures as well as mixtures showing room‐temperature ferroelectric phases.

High multiplicity processes at NLO with BlackHat and Sherpa

open access: yes, 2012
In this contribution we review recent progress with fixed-order QCD predictions for the production of a vector boson in association with jets at hadron colliders, using the programs BlackHat and SHERPA. We review general features of next-to-leading-order

Probing Ultrafast Coherent Bandgap Modulation in Monolayer WSe2 by Nonlinear Optics

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
This work sheds light on how resonant nonlinear optics blursthe line between perturbative and non‐perturbative nonlinear optics. Measured deviationsfrom the quadratic second‐harmonic scaling near the excitonic resonance arisefrom optical Stark and Bloch‐Siegert shifts. The experimental results arefurther underpinned by analytical and numerical analysis
