Variability of NmF2 during solar minima at the Equatorial Ionization Anomaly crest region

Advances in Space Research, 2019
Abstract The variability of NmF2 during solar minima of solar cycle 21–22, 22–23 and 23–24 has been studied for two low latitude stations, Karachi (Pakistan) and Okinawa (Japan), as both stations are situated at the Equatorial Ionization Anomaly (EIA) crest region.

Equinoctial asymmetry in solar activity variations of NmF2 and TEC

2018
The ionosonde NmF2 data (covering several solar cycles) and the JPL TEC maps (from 1998 through 2009) were collected to investigate the equinoctial asymmetries in ionospheric electron density and its variation with solar activity. With solar activity increasing, the equinoctial asymmetry of noontime NmF2 increases at middle latitudes but decreases or ...

Midlatitude summer nighttime anomaly in NmF2 according to the data of vertical sounding in Alma-Ata

Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2015
The morphology of the midlatitude summer nighttime anomaly in the diurnal behavior of the electron concentration maximum in the F2 layer in various seasons and at various solar activity levels was studied with the use of vertical sounding data in Almaty in 1999, 2008, 2011, and 2012.

Variations in statistical parameters of the NmF2 equinoctial asymmetry with latitude and solar activity near noon

Advances in Space Research, 2013
Abstract Hourly values of the F2-layer peak density, Nm F2, measured by 95 ionosondes near noon from 1957 to 2011 at low and middle geomagnetic latitudes of the northern and southern geographic hemispheres are used in a statistical study of the Nm F2 equinoctial asymmetry.

Vertical structure of the midlatitude winter F region of the ionosphere during postmidnight enhancements in NmF2

Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2009
The behavior of the vertical structure of the ionospheric F2 layer, including the variations in the heights of the maximum and bottom of the layer, its half-thickness, and electron content at some fixed heights during postmidnight enhancements in the electron density at the F2 layer maximum (NmF2), has been studied based on the data of the ionospheric ...

Causes of the mid-latitudinal daytime NmF2 semi-annual anomaly at solar minimum

Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics, 2018
Abstract Ionospheric ionosonde and radar observations and theoretical calculations of the F2-layer peak altitude, hmF2, and number density, NmF2, over Millstone Hill during winter, spring, summer, and autumn geomagnetically quiet time periods at low solar activity are used to study the causes of the observed daytime NmF2 semi-annual anomaly.

Subsidiary maxima in late evening NmF2 at a low latitude station at solar maximum

Journal of Atmospheric and Terrestrial Physics, 1988
Abstract At solar maximum during the late evening hours (2100–2400 LT), NmF2 at Tahiti frequently does not decrease monotonically but exhibits temporary subsidiary maxima. Thus, in 1980, of 66 evening periods for which good data were available, 20 showed monotonie decreases but the remainder exhibited such subsidiary maxima.
