Carbon indices to assess quality of management systems in a Subtropical Acrisol

open access: yesScientia Agricola
: Management systems to improve soil quality are essential for agricultural and environmental sustainability. We assessed the quality of soil management systems applied to a subtropical Acrisol in terms of the carbon management index (CMI), the ...

Natural Negative Feedback Loops Confer Indica‐Japonica Differentiation for Grain Size Homeostasis in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals the genetic and molecular mechanisms controlling grain size homeostasis through fine‐tuning OsGRX8 self‐expression by two natural negative feedback loops functioning in redox‐dependent or ‐independent manners and identifies two self‐regulatory haplotypes (SRHs) for the subspecies differentiation in rice.

Targeting Peptostreptococcus anaerobius with an Iron‐Based Nanozyme Reverses Ferroptosis Resistance and Enhances Antitumor Immunity in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An iron‐based nanozyme selectively eliminates intratumoral P. anaerobius while catalytically generating ROS to induce ferroptosis, synergistically suppressing colorectal cancer growth and activating anti‐tumor immunity through immunogenic cell death. ABSTRACT The intratumoral microbiota is a critical determinant of therapeutic outcomes in colorectal ...

Autism and mild epilepsy associated with a de novo missense pathogenic variant in the GTPase effector domain of DNM1

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part C: Seminars in Medical Genetics, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Dynamin 1 is a GTPase protein involved in synaptic vesicle fission, which facilitates the exocytosis of neurotransmitters necessary for normal signaling. Pathogenic variants in the DNM1 gene are associated with intractable epilepsy, often manifested as infantile spasms at onset, developmental delay, and a movement disorder, and are located in ...

An Economic Analysis of Carbon Sequestration for Wheat and Grain Sorghum Production in Kansas [PDF]

open access: yes
This study examined the economic potential with and without carbon credit payments of two crop and tillage systems in South Central Kansas that could reduce carbon dioxide emissions and sequester carbon in the soil. Experiment station cropping practices,

Overview of the Worldwide Spread of Conservation Agriculture

open access: yesField Actions Science Reports, 2015
The global empirical evidence shows that farmer-led transformation of agricultural production systems based on Conservation Agriculture (CA) principles is already occurring and gathering momentum globally as a new paradigm for the 21st century.

A Tac1‐Expressing Brainstem Pathway Underlies the Pathogenesis of Trigeminal Neuralgia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A critical TG‐Sp5CTac1‐PBNTac1 pathway drives trigeminal neuropathic pain (TNP). Tac1‐expressing parabrachial nucleus (PBNTac1) neurons exhibit heightened responses to innocuous stimuli in TNP, and chemogenetic inhibition of these neurons effectively prevents TNP development.

Assessing the Impacts of Soil Carbon Credits and Risk on No-Till Rice Profitability [PDF]

open access: yes
Rice is a major cash crop in eastern Arkansas, but most rice acres are intensively cultivated and grown on rented land. No-till is an effective means of sequestering soil carbon and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and economic incentives exist for no ...

No-till is Better Choice for Soybean after Corn [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The wet 2008 fall put a hold on tillage operations for many farmers, which may provide them with time to consider the use of no-tillage system for soybean after corn.
