Moving to No-tillage: Challenges and Opportunities [PDF]
Wet conditions last fall and potential wet conditions this spring make this a good time to consider tillage choices. It is a good time to examine the value of no-till or strip-tillage, especially for producers that have not tried these methods.

A central molecular adaptor, ZSL, is identified that links transverse filaments ZYP1 to central element SCEP1/2 to drive synaptonemal complex assembly in Brassica napus. Loss of ZSL abolishes synaptonemal complex formation, disrupts meiotic chromosome segregation, and markedly increases crossovers, providing mechanistic insight into meiotic fidelity ...

Influence of mouldboard ploughing and shallow tillage on soil physical properties and crop performance [PDF]
This study was conducted in spring 2011 in a long-term field experiment with the objective of assessing the effect of shallow tillage and mouldboard ploughing on some soil physical properties and crop performance.

Erasable FAP Targeted Spray‐On Probe for Fluorescence‐Guided Surgery
We present the first erasable spray‐on probe for fluorescence‐guided surgery. Following topical delivery, FAP‐FLASH550 targets fibroblast activation protein–expressing stromal cells, delineating tumor margins with high tumor‐to‐background ratios. A 365 nm UV light pulse rapidly erases fluorescent signals through triazene photodegradation and subsequent

It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.

Southeast Iowa on-farm demonstration of sustainable tillage systems and weed profile developments on those systems [PDF]
This study was designed to determine whether tillage systems left in place for significant periods of time develop different weed profiles. No-tillage, reduced tillage, and conventional tillage were placed in a corn/soybean rotation that had been ...

OsGSK2‐OsTCP19 module regulating nitrate response and lateral root (LR) development. Low‐nitrate condition results in reduced BR response, accumulation of OsGSK2 and phosphorylated OsTCP19, which suppresses the expression of nitrate‐responsive genes and LR‐development genes and impairs rice growth.

Soil fauna and its relation with environmental variables in soil management systems
The present study aims to generate knowledge about the soil fauna, its relation to other explanatory environmental variables, and, besides it, to select edaphic indicators that more contribute to separate the land use systems (LUS).
