Decomposition of electronically excited nitro-containing molecules with different X–NO2 (X = C, N, O) moieties has been intensively investigated over the past decades; however, their decomposition behavior has not previously been compared and contrasted.

Study of the anomalous NO2 symmetric stretch in p-NO2 aniline
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular Spectroscopy, 1982Abstract The anomalous doublet corresponding to the NO2 symmetric stretch in p-NO2 aniline is studied by i.r. spectroscopy in 17 solvents and in the crystal. Deuteration of the amino group collapses the doublet and its nature is assigned to Fermi resonance and not to solute self-association.

Paramagnetic Resonance Study of Production of NO2 and NO2— in Irradiated KNO3
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1962Experiments were carried out on pure KNO/sub 3/ and KNO/sub 3/ containing KN/sup 15/O/sub 2/ impurity in order to study the relation between NO/ sub 2/ and NO/sub 2/ in irradiated KNO/sub 3/. The results show that NO/sub 2/ is the source of NO/sub 2/ when KNO/sub 3/ with KNO/sub 2/ impurity is irradiated at 77 deg K, and when pure KNO/sub 3/ is ...

Mechanisms of pulmonary NO2 absorption
Toxicology, 1994Although NO2-induced cytotoxic responses have been well characterized, the specific mechanisms responsible for initiating toxicity remain equivocal. The inhomogeneous distribution of epithelial injury suggests that differential interactions between NO2 and the lung surfaces may contribute to the extent of regional responses.

SAOZ measurements of NO2 at Aberystwyth
Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2006We present in this paper fifteen years' measurements, from March 1991 to September 2005, of stratospheric NO2 vertical columns measured by a SAOZ zenith-sky visible spectrometer. The instrument spent most of its time at Aberystwyth, Wales, with occasional excursions to other locations.

Preparation and Raman spectra of Ca(NO2)2·H2O, Ca(NO2)2 and Mg(NO2)2·H2O
Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1980Abstract The above named salts have been prepared from aqueous solutions of the pure nitrates. Distinct compounds Ca(NO2)2·H2O and Ca(NO2)2 which are free of nitrate impurity have been characterized by their Raman spectra. The hydrated salt appears to contain four crystallographically non-equivalent nitrate groups.

Development of the NO2 Adsorbent for a Low NO2 Concentration Gas
2007The adsorbent that contains metallic (0 valence) copper as active species for NO 2 adsorption and potassium as a capturing agent of NO 2 is extremely effective to the removal from the low NO 2 concentration gas, but it possesses the weak point that the performance deterioration is accelerated under high humidity condition.

The CO, NO and NO2 concentrations, visibility and air flow velocity were measured using continuous analysers in a long Norwegian road tunnel (7.5 km) with traffic in both directions in April 1994 and 1995. The traffic density was monitored at the same time.

Uniaxial stress measurements on Rb2PbCu(NO2)6 and K2PbCu(NO2)6
Solid State Communications, 1979Abstract EPR measurements on crystals of compressed tetragonal Rb2PbCu(NO2)6 and K2PbCu(NO2)6 subjected to uniaxial stress have been carried out at various temperatures. The results indicate that uniaxial stress can reorient the crystal axes in both compounds and that smaller stresses are required for Rb2PbCu(NO2)6 than for K2PbCu(NO2)6 at comparable
