Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Seasonal trends of the stable nitrogen isotope ratio in particulate nitrogen compounds and their gaseous precursors in Akita, Japan

open access: yesTellus: Series B, Chemical and Physical Meteorology, 2019
Particulate matter (PM) can have adverse effects on human health. Moreover, because the mechanisms of PM formation and behavior in the atmosphere are notably complicated, to reduce PM concentrations effectively and meet environmental standards, source ...

14N Nuclear Quadrupole Resonance Spectra of K2SrCu(NO2)6, K2BaCu(NO2)6, and Cs2PbCu(NO2)6 [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 1981
Abstract The 14N NQR frequencies of K2SrCu(NO2)6, K2BaCu(NO2)6, and Cs2PbCu(NO2)6 were determined at various temperatures below about 155, 67, and 235 K, respectively. The results are discussed in referring to their crystal structure.

Association between traffic-related air pollution, subclinical inflammation and impaired glucose metabolism : results from the SALIA study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Environmental and lifestyle factors regulate the expression and release of immune mediators. It has been hypothesised that ambient air pollution may be such an external factor and that the association between air pollution and impaired glucose metabolism

Transient Laser‐Shocked Synthesis of Amorphous Layer‐Supported Metal Nanocrystals for Efficient Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A general, versatile laser‐shock synthesis process is reported to produce various bimetallic CuNi, CuFe, CuCo, and medium‐entropy CuFeCoNi heterostructures, in which crystalline metal nanoparticles are anchored to amorphous hydroxide supports. During nitrate reduction reaction, the heterostructures undergo dynamic amorphous/crystalline reconstruction ...
