Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Keeping up with the Joneses, reference dependence, and equilibrium indeterminacy [PDF]

open access: yes
This model extends the keeping up with the Joneses (KUJ) model to incorporate the notion that positional concerns in consumption are best modelled with a reference dependence specification of preferences, as postulated by Tversky and Kahneman (1991) in ...

The Gene Ontology's Reference Genome Project: A Unified Framework for Functional Annotation across Species

open access: yes, 2009
Complete functional annotation of genomes is a powerful tool for researchers; however, such annotation is a time-consuming task limited by the availability of experimental data.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Is the Endowment Effect a Reference Effect? [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper is aimed to assess, with two lab experiments, to what extent Kőszegi and Rabin's (2006) model of expectations-based reference-dependent preferences can explain Knetsch's (1989) endowment effect.

Iterative blind image motion deblurring via learning a no-reference image quality measure

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]In this paper, we propose a learning-based image restoration algorithm for restoring images degraded by uniform motion blurs. The motion blur parameters are first approximately estimated from the robust global motion estimation result.

An Account of English YES/NO Interrogative Sentences within ARTEMIS

open access: yesRevista de Lenguas para Fines Específicos, 2017
As stated in Periñán-Pascual and Arcas Túnez (2010, p. 2671) FunGramKB´s lexical and grammatical levels are grounded in sound linguistic theories, allowing the system to capture syntactic-semantic generalizations which are able to provide both ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

A No-Reference Perceptual Blur Metric [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we present a no-reference blur metric for images and video. The blur metric is based on the analysis of the spread of the edges in an image. Its perceptual significance is validated through subjective experiments.
