PRELIMINARY RESULTS REGARDING PHYLOGENY OF THE NOBLE CRAYFISH (DECAPODA, ASTACIDAE, „ASTACUS ASTACUS“) IN SERBIA

Book of Proceedings: 1st International Conference on Chemo and BioInformatics, 2021
The noble crayfish is one of the three autochthonous species that inhabit the freshwater ecosystems of Serbia, along with stone and Danube crayfish. The noble crayfish has a complex historical and genetic status shaped by geological events, habitat loss,

Embryonic development, eclosion and performance of juvenile noble crayfish Astacus astacus (L. 1758) in response to shortened cold period

, 2021
A suitable temperature regime in artificial incubation of crayfish eggs is crucial for successful application in aquaculture production and conservation projects. We studied the effect of different extended cold periods (CP: 10, 24 and 38 days at 7.5 ± 0.

Latent crayfish plague (Aphanomyces astaci) infection in a robust wild noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) population

Aquaculture, 2011
article i nfo Apparently healthy wild noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) sampled from Lake Mikitanjarvi, Kainuu, Finland in 2009 and 2010 were discovered to be PCR-positive for Aphanomyces astaci. Detection prevalence was lower in 2009 than in 2010. Despite the detected sublethal infection, the Lake Mikitanjarvi population has been pro- ductive and is ...

Does the narrow-clawed crayfish, Pontastacus leptodactylus (Eschscholtz, 1823) (Decapoda: Astacidea: Astacidae), contributes to the decline of the noble crayfish, Astacus astacus Linnaeus, 1758 in the Belarusian Lakeland?

Journal of Crustacean Biology
The noble crayfish, Astacus astacusLinnaeus, 1758, is the rarest crayfish species in Belarus, distributed mainly within the Belarusian Lakeland, a region of numerous lakes of glacial origin in northern Belarus.

Phylogeography of noble crayfish (Astacus astacus) reveals multiple refugia

Freshwater Biology, 2013
Summary Reconstructing the phylogeographic history of a species can aid in defining areas of conservation priority. For freshwater species, historical river structure plays a significant role in explaining genetic differentiation and population structure.

The study of bacteria on artificially incubated noble crayfish eggs

Inland Water Biology, 2011
Data on the abundance of heterotrophic bacteria on the surface of artificially incubated noble crayfish (Astacus astacus L.) eggs are presented. The highest abundance of heterotrophic bacteria was observed on crayfish juveniles (stage 1). The abundance of bacteria in the water of the incubator’s system was found to be considerably lower than that on ...

Noble crayfish and narrow-clawed crayfish hybridisation experiment in natural habitat

2013
Mixed populations of noble (Astacus astacus) and narrow-clawed crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) can be found across Europe, but the existence of their hybrids has not yet been confirmed. Up till now, hybrids between the two species were obtained in laboratory conditions, however juveniles did not survive.

Characterisation of the noble crayfish immune response to the crayfish plague disease agent and its analogues

CrayfIT - Book of Abstracts, 2023
Recent findings point to the existence of immune memory in invertebrates. Some species show an improved immune response to pathogen challenge after previous nonlethal exposures to the pathogen or its analogues. This mechanism, although little studied in freshwater crayfish, could have significant applications in aquaculture.

Predation on larvae of the noble crayfish, Astacus astacus L.

Aquaculture, 1990
Abstract The predation by dragonfly larvae ( Aeschna grandis ) and adult female crayfish on second-stage young of the noble crayfish, Astacus astacus , was studied in aquarium experiments. Combinations of crayfish young with and without adult female crayfish, with and without shelter were made in 4×4 set-ups with dragonfly larvae and 4×2 without ...
