Strong context dependence in the relative importance of climate and habitat on nation-wide macro-moth community changes. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anim Ecol
We present a novel predictive variance partitioning and scenario framework for drivers of species and communities. By addressing data gaps and incorporating climatic conditions, habitat, and species traits, our approach reveals the importance of taxonomic and environmental context in shaping responses to environmental change across large spatial scales.

Mitigating light pollution impacts on arthropods based on light-emitting diode properties. [PDF]

open access: yesConserv Biol
Abstract Light pollution from artificial light at night (ALAN) is a significant environmental problem with far‐reaching consequences for ecological systems. Recent innovations in light‐emitting diode (LED) technology may offer sustainable outdoor lighting solutions, but scientific evidence is lacking. We investigated the effects of various LED lighting

Cross-Taxa Analysis of Long-Term Data Reveals a Positive Biodiversity-Stability Relationship With Taxon-Specific Mechanistic Underpinning. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Lett
We investigate the relationship between biodiversity and stability in real‐world communities, examining if this relationship and its underlying mechanisms differ among various taxa. We utilise six long‐term monitoring datasets from both terrestrial and aquatic environments across a 1200 km latitudinal gradient in Finland, providing two decades of ...

Predation on Northern Silky Anteater (Cyclopes dorsalis) by Tiger Rat Snake (Spilotes pullatus) in a Rainforest Fragment in Costa Rica

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 2, March 2026.
We report the first predation event of a northern silky anteater by a tiger rat snake. This predation underscores how little is known about the nocturnal anteater and its predators. As the snake is commensal with humans, anthropogenic habitat alterations might have exposed the anteater to a novel predation pressure.

A multiscale seasonal examination of the risk of harm to seabirds from vessels based on co‐occurrence in Alaskan waters

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Alaska's seascape supports globally significant seabird populations, including vulnerable and threatened species, and hosts economically important commercial fisheries and marine transportation corridors. Seasonal patterns of seabird movements and vessel traffic create a complex landscape of risk, defined as high levels of co‐occurrence ...

They come in all sizes: integrative systematics and morphological radiation of Scherotheca (Lumbricidae, Crassiclitellata)

open access: yesCladistics, Volume 41, Issue 6, Page 581-599, December 2025.
Abstract Scherotheca is amongst the most diverse earthworm genera within Lumbricidae, exhibiting striking ecomorphological radiation—from small epigeic‐like forms to giant anecic species. Accurate systematics is critical for exploring such diversification.

The pace and drivers of community change vary over space and time – findings from a national biomonitoring programme

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2025, Issue 9, September 2025.
Habitat heterogeneity and demographic processes create variability in the major taxonomic diversity trends: 1) biotic homogenization and 2) the emergence of novel community compositions. Nonetheless, little is known about how the imprints of environmental filtering and random demographic processes on community dissimilarity vary over 1) time or 2 ...
