Cubic ScPd topological metal: Closed nodal line, spin-orbit coupling-induced triply degenerate nodal point–Dirac nodal point transition

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2020
The presence of nodal points (NPs) and nodal lines (NLs) in the momentum space of topological materials is accompanied by many interesting properties. In this study, we predicted that an existing material ScPd with Pm3¯m-type structure would have closed NLs in the kx/y/z = 0 planes and one pair of triply degenerate NPs (TNPs) along the R-M-R′ paths ...

ATG4B is required for mTORC1‐mediated anabolic activity and is associated with clinical outcomes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The relationship between anabolic and catabolic processes governing lung cancer cell growth is nuanced. We show that ATG4B, an autophagy regulator, is elevated in lung cancer and that high ATG4B is associated with worse patient outcomes. Targeting ATG4B in cells reduces growth, protein synthesis, and mTORC1 activity, demonstrating a new relationship ...

Reconstruction of the Volterra-type integro-differential operator from nodal points

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2018
In this work, the Sturm–Liouville problem perturbated by a Volterra-type integro-differential operator is studied. We give a uniqueness theorem and an algorithm to reconstruct the potential of the problem from nodal points (zeros of eigenfunctions).

Topological Dirac Nodal Lines and Surface Charges in fcc Alkaline Earth Metals

open access: yes, 2017
In nodal-line semimetals, the gaps close along loops in ${\bf k}$ space, which are not at high-symmetry points. Typical mechanisms for the emergence of nodal lines involve mirror symmetry and the $\pi$ Berry phase.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Experimental observation of photonic nodal line degeneracies in metacrystals

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Nodal lines are 1D band crossings forming a ring in the Brillouin zone which can spawn Weyl points. Here, using a cut-wire metacrystal designed for gigahertz frequencies, Gao et al.

Visualizing discrete Fermi surfaces and possible nodal-line to Weyl state evolution in ZrSiTe

open access: yesnpj Quantum Materials, 2022
Topological nodal line semimetals (TNLSMs) represent a quantum state of topological matter. When the crystal/time-reversal symmetry is broken, a nodal line state is expected to evolve into a Dirac semimetal, a Weyl semimetal, or other topological phases ...

Antiferromagnetism-driven two-dimensional topological nodal-point superconductivity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2023
AbstractMagnet/superconductor hybrids (MSHs) hold the promise to host emergent topological superconducting phases. Both one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) magnetic systems in proximity to s-wave superconductors have shown evidence of gapped topological superconductivity with zero-energy end states and chiral edge modes.

Diagnostic Utility of Testing for Novel Murine Autoantibodies for Sjögren's Disease in the Rheumatology Outpatient Setting

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective The goal was to assess the diagnostic performance of three novel autoantibodies (NA) for Sjögren's disease (SjD) by comparing NA prevalence in patients with SjD, other autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs), nonspecific chronic sialadenitis (CS), and controls.

The Statistics of the Points Where Nodal Lines Intersect a Reference Curve

open access: yes, 2007
We study the intersection points of a fixed planar curve $\Gamma$ with the nodal set of a translationally invariant and isotropic Gaussian random field $\Psi(\bi{r})$ and the zeros of its normal derivative across the curve. The intersection points form a
