Protein token: a dynamic unit in protein interactions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this study, we introduced a new unit, named "protein token", as a dynamic protein structural unit for protein-protein interactions. Unlike the conventional structural units, protein token is not based on the sequential or spatial arrangement of residues, but comprises remote residues involved in cooperative conformational changes during protein ...

Long‐term survival in a dog with suspected primary nodal plasmacytoma treated with surgical excision

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract An 8‐year‐old Staffordshire bull terrier presented for left submandibular lymphadenopathy. Cytology showed a monomorphic population of mature plasma cells suggestive of plasma cell neoplasia. On physical examination, no other lymphadenomegaly, cutaneous or oral lesions were found.

Defect formula for nodal complete intersection threefolds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
We generalize Werner's defect formula for nodal hypersurfaces in $\mathbb P^{4}$ to the case of a nodal complete intersection threefold.

HDAC1/2-Dependent P0 Expression Maintains Paranodal and Nodal Integrity Independently of Myelin Stability through Interactions with Neurofascins

open access: yesPLoS Biology, 2015
The pathogenesis of peripheral neuropathies in adults is linked to maintenance mechanisms that are not well understood. Here, we elucidate a novel critical maintenance mechanism for Schwann cell (SC)–axon interaction.

Signaling Centers Drive Brachyury Dynamics and Lineage Commitment in mESC Aggregates

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances, EarlyView.
We used a mouse embryonic stem cell aggregate model to compare the use of Chiron and BMP4 signaling as pulses (applied to the whole aggregate) or signaling centers (applied to part of the aggregate). BMP4 as a pulse was shown to drive neural differentiation, with Chiron inhibiting this effect.

Overexpression of Nodal induces a metastatic phenotype in pancreatic cancer cells via the Smad2/3 pathway

open access: yesOncoTarget, 2015
Metastasis is the major cause for the high mortality rate of pancreatic cancer. Human embryonic stem cell (hESC) associated genes frequently correlate with malignant disease progression.

Regulation of the MAPK/ERK Pathway by miRNA‐27b in Gastric Cancer: Diagnostic Implications and Therapeutic Potential of Aloin

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Globally, gastric cancer (GC) ranks as the fourth most deadly and fifth most prevalent kind of cancer. Appropriate treatment methods, precise etiology, and molecular processes of GC are still unclear. Methods In silico and quantitative real‐time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT‐PCR)‐based expression of miRNA‐27b ...

Tn as a potential predictor for regional lymph node metastasis in T1 colorectal cancer

open access: yesAsian Journal of Surgery, 2023
Background: Approximately 10 percent of T1 colorectal cancer (CRC) has lymph node metastasis. In this study, we aimed to determine possible predictors for nodal involvement in order to aid selection of appropriate patients for organ-preserving strategies.

Sodium channel Nav1.6 accumulates at the site of infraorbital nerve injury

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2007
Background Sodium channel (NaCh) expressions change following nerve and inflammatory lesions and this change may contribute to the activation of pain pathways. In a previous study we found a dramatic increase in the size and density of NaCh accumulations,

Nodal regulates bladder cancer cell migration and invasion via the ALK/Smad signaling pathway

open access: yesOncoTargets and Therapy, 2018
Background Bladder cancer is the most common malignant tumor of the urinary tract. We aimed to explore the biological role and molecular mechanism of Nodal in bladder cancer.
