ABSTRACT Complex stratigraphic arrangements may be generated through lateral facies transitions from the strata of aeolian depositional systems into bordering peritidal deposits. In such scenarios, sedimentary architectural complexity and associated facies heterogeneities are governed by the interplay between autogenic processes inherent to tidal ...

Mechanisms of biogenic gas migration revealed by seep carbonate paragenesis, Panoche Hills, California [PDF]
A comprehensive study of seep carbonates at the top of the organic-rich Maastrichtian to Danian Moreno Formation in the Panoche Hills (California) reveals the mechanisms of generation, expulsion, and migration of biogenic methane that fed the seeps.

ABSTRACT Thin ferruginous sandy crusts are common on top of sandstone beds in the Early Permian post‐glacial deposits of the Paraná Basin in southern Brazil. These crusts usually preserve wrinkle structures, suggesting that they might be a product of microbial mediation.

ABSTRACT Mongolia's Eastern and Western Gobi Basins preserve a globally significant record of Cretaceous terrestrial vertebrates, yet their biostratigraphic correlations are complicated by a complex geological history. The Eastern Gobi Basin, a northeast‐southwest trending fault‐bounded rift system, includes several minor sub‐basins with distinct ...

Required but disguised: Environmental signals in limestone-marl alternations [PDF]
The nature of rhythmic carbonate-rich successions such as limestone^marl alternations has been, and still is, subject to controversy. The possibility of an entirely diagenetic origin for the rhythmic calcareous alternations is discarded by most authors.

ABSTRACT Preserved allocyclic signatures in the rock record often reflect basin‐scale climatic variability and serve as key proxies for correlating ancient dryland successions. The notion of climate cyclicity, however, remains largely untested on regionally constrained, outcrop‐calibrated studies.

Marine Metallic Mineral Resources of the Pacific Basin [PDF]
In the 1970s and 1980s, the ocean became a focus of attention for mineral producers and consumers. This paper surveys that trend with particular emphasis on several specific metals and types of resource deposit.

Sedimentology and taphonomy of Late Permian vertebrate fossil localities in southwestern Madagascar [PDF]
This is the first report of a project that tests the accuracy of the currently accepted palaeoposition of southern Madagascar during the late Permian in juxtaposition to the coast of Tanzania.

Global Warming Affects the Pathogenesis of Important Fish Diseases in European Aquaculture
The effect of global warming on pathogens and their fish hosts that could exacerbate the negative outcomes for aquaculture. Changes in farming practices and the development of innovative mitigation tools may prove essential to cope with the effects and impacts of rising water temperatures on fish diseases in Europe.
