CD-HOC: Indoor Human Occupancy Counting using Carbon Dioxide Sensor Data [PDF]
Human occupancy information is crucial for any modern Building Management System (BMS). Implementing pervasive sensing and leveraging Carbon Dioxide data from BMS sensor, we present Carbon Dioxide - Human Occupancy Counter (CD-HOC), a novel way to estimate the number of people within a closed space from a single carbon dioxide sensor.

AN ANALYSIS OF HELMET SOUND ATTENUATION DURING ABRASIVE BLASTING [PDF]
During abrasive blasting, the operator is exposed to a process consisting of combined sound pressure levels from compressed air propelling an abrasive media through the hose, the abrasive striking metal substrate, the flow of breathing air inside the ...

Occupational noise exposure and course of pregnancy.
The study examined the possible relation of occupational noise exposure to adverse pregnancy outcomes. The experience of 1,190 reference mothers from a case-referent study based on the Finnish Register of Congenital Malformations was scrutinized.

Road Scene Understanding by Occupancy Grid Learning from Sparse Radar Clusters using Semantic Segmentation [PDF]
Occupancy grid mapping is an important component in road scene understanding for autonomous driving. It encapsulates information of the drivable area, road obstacles and enables safe autonomous driving. Radars are an emerging sensor in autonomous vehicle vision, becoming more widely used due to their long range sensing, low cost, and robustness to ...

Noise Management at Work [PDF]
Every single day millions of European workers are exposed to noise at work. One in five of European’s workers have to raise his voice to be heard for at least half of the time that there are at work and 7% suffer from work-related hearing impairment.

Molecular transistor coupled to phonons and Luttinger-liquid leads
We study the effects of electron-phonon interactions on the transport properties of a molecular quantum dot coupled to two Luttinger-liquid leads. In particular, we investigate the effects on the steady state current and DC noise characteristics.

ABSTRACT Background The prevalence of high body mass index (BMI) contributes to an increased risk of various diseases. This study aimed to identify global disease burden trends associated with high BMI from 1990 to 2019 and forecasts up to 2040. Methods Using data from the global burden of disease (GBD) 2019 study, we analysed the number and ratio of ...

Autonomous Navigation in Unknown Environments with Sparse Bayesian Kernel-based Occupancy Mapping [PDF]
This paper focuses on online occupancy mapping and real-time collision checking onboard an autonomous robot navigating in a large unknown environment. Commonly used voxel and octree map representations can be easily maintained in a small environment but have increasing memory requirements as the environment grows.
