NOISE-INDUCED UNIDIRECTIONAL TRANSPORT
Stochastics and Dynamics, 2001Constructive conditions for existence of unidirectional transport are given for systems with state-dependent noise and for forced thermal ratchets. Using them, domains of parameters corresponding to unidirectional transport are identified. Some results of numerical experiments are presented.

Trichotomous noise-induced transitions
Physical Review E, 1999A nonlinear one-dimensional process driven by a multiplicative exponentially correlated three-level Markovian noise (trichotomous noise) is considered. An explicit second-order linear ordinary differential equation for the stationary probability density distribution is obtained for the process.

The firing pattern of neural pulses often show the following features: the shapes of individual pulses are nearly identical and frequency independent; the firing frequency can vary over a broad range; the time period between pulses shows a stochastic scatter. This behaviour cannot be understood on the basis of a deterministic non-linear dynamic process,

AbstractWe investigate the impact of noisy restoring force on the damped linear oscillator z̈ + 2βż + cz = 0, when interplaying with the damping. Besides describing the strength of destabilizing and stabilizing noise effects, we show the phenomenon of noise induced oscillation (or rotation) and estimate its strength.

We have found that the regular motion of an integrable system becomes erratic when a weak white noise is added. The interaction between dynamic and stochastic forces gives rise to an erratic power spectrum, positive Lyapunov exponents, and nonzero correlation exponent independent of embedding dimensions.

Noise-induced hearing loss is a major hazard in many workplaces and in society. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health estimates that more than 30 million workers (almost 1 in 10) are exposed to unsafe noise levels on the job. Helicopter emergency medical services crews work in an environment in which exposure to aviation noise makes

Noise Induced Phase Transitions
1996Models of macroscopic systems with an infinite number of microscopic degrees of freedom perturbed by external noise can undergo sharp phase transitions which are however modified or even induced by the external noise. These non-equilibrium phase transitions exhibit the features characteristic of equilibrium phase transitions such as symmetry breaking ...

AbstractWe study the overdamped motion of a particle in a one‐dimensional periodic potential driven by a stochastic force. If the stochastic force is correlated in time (non‐white), and if the potential has no inversion symmetry, a current is generated. In the case of a piecewise linear potential we obtain a closed expression for the current as a ratio

Noise-induced chaos is an interesting phenomenon. However, it is a subtle issue because of the difficulty in distinguishing between true low-dimensional chaos and noise. In this review article, we consider how to define noise-induced chaos and what constitutes a test for noise-induced chaos.
