Adaptive Narrowband Compensation Algorithm for Active Control of the Pressure Pulsation Line Spectrum in A Liquid Pipeline System

open access: yesShock and Vibration
Active noise control technology provides a means for actively controlling pipeline pulsations. The control signal emitted by the secondary source feeds back into the reference input signal, thereby generating a pulsation coupling phenomenon.

Review of Underground Storage Tank Condition Monitoring Techniques

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
This article aims to provide a comprehensive review on the condition monitoring techniques of underground storage tanks (UST). Generally, the UST has long been a favourite toxic substance reservation apparatus, thanks to its large capacity and minimum ...

Non-Markovian continuous-time quantum walks on lattices with dynamical noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We address the dynamics of continuous-time quantum walks on one-dimensional disordered lattices inducing dynamical noise in the system. Noise is described as time-dependent fluctuations of the tunneling amplitudes between adjacent sites, and attention is

Combustion noise

open access: yesProceedings of the Combustion Institute, 2015
AbstractCombustion noise is becoming increasingly important as a major noise source in aeroengines and ground based gas turbines. This is partially because advances in design have reduced the other noise sources, and partially because next generation combustion modes burn more unsteadily, resulting in increased external noise from the combustion.

CD9‐association with PIP2 areas is regulated by a CD9 salt bridge

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tetraspanin CD9 has an intracellular salt bridge. If CD9 opens, open‐CD9 moves from PIP2‐rich areas to regions populated by its interaction partner EWI‐2. Hence, the state of the salt bridge regulates the distribution of CD9 and by this CD9‐EWI‐2 complex formation.

Two stage superconducting quantum interference device amplifier in a high-Q gravitational wave transducer

open access: yes, 2000
We report on the total noise from an inductive motion transducer for a gravitational-wave antenna. The transducer uses a two-stage SQUID amplifier and has a noise temperature of 1.1 mK, of which 0.70 mK is due to back-action noise from the SQUID chip ...

The Diagnostic Value of Visual Evoked Potentials in Chronic Disorders of Consciousness

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective In chronic disorders of consciousness (DOCs), the distinction between vegetative state/unresponsive wakefulness syndrome (VS/UWS) and minimally conscious state (MCS) is as crucial as it is challenging. Evoked potentials (EPs) and event‐related potentials (ERPs) are helpful, but some limitations prevent their consistent use in the ...

Optimal entrainment of circadian clocks in the presence of noise

open access: yes, 2017
Circadian clocks are biochemical oscillators that allow organisms to estimate the time of the day. These oscillators are inherently noisy due to the discrete nature of the reactants and the stochastic character of their interactions.

Analysis of the Longitudinal Behavior of Serum Levels of Soluble Flt1 and Placental Growth Factor in Pregnant Patients With Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study analyzed longitudinal trajectories of soluble Flt1 (sFlt1) levels, placenta growth factor (PlGF) levels, and sFlt1:PlGF ratios in a cohort of pregnant patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods Blood samples were collected (14–18, 24–26, 30–32, 34–36, and 38–40 weeks), stored at −80°C, and evaluated for serum levels ...
