5,11‐Di(thiophen‐2‐yl)Tetracene: A Novel Tetracene Derivative for Efficient Singlet Fission with Enhanced Physical and Chemical Stability in Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, a new tetracene derivative, 5,11‐di(thiophen‐2‐yl)tetracene (2T‐Tc) is introduced, exhibiting enhanced physical and chemical stability, and retaining favorable singlet fission kinetics with near unity triplet pair yield in thin films.

Noise pollution: acute noise exposure increases susceptibility to disease and chronic exposure reduces host survival

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2020
Anthropogenic noise is a pervasive global pollutant that has been detected in every major habitat on the planet. Detrimental impacts of noise pollution on physiology, immunology and behaviour have been shown in terrestrial vertebrates and invertebrates ...

Modeling the Measurements of Cochlear Microcirculation and Hearing Function after Loud Noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Objective: Recent findings support the crucial role of microcirculatory disturbance and ischemia for hearing impairment especially after noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL).

Unique Performance Considerations for Printable Organic Semiconductor and Perovskite Radiation Detectors: Toward Consensus on Best Practice Evaluation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Occupational Noise Exposure and the Risk of Stroke [PDF]

open access: yesStroke, 2013
Background and Purpose— Traffic noise <60 dB(A) has been associated with an increased risk of stroke. We investigated this relationship for 80 to 86 dB(A) occupational noise. Methods— We followed 116 568 industrial and 47 679 financial workers by linkage to Danish registries 2001

Exploring Electronic States and Ultrafast Electron Dynamics in AlInP Window Layers: The Role of Surface Reconstruction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the surface characteristics of AlInP (001), crucial for advanced solar cells and photoelectrochemical devices. Using theoretical modeling and experiments, it identifies how phosphorus‐rich and indium‐rich surfaces create mid‐gap states that pin the Fermi level and influence ultrafast electron dynamics.

Longitudinal Effect of Music Exposure on Hearing Among Vocal Performance Students

open access: yesAcoustics
The effects of music exposure on vocal performers remain relatively unknown. This study aimed to assess the immediate and long-term effects of music and singing practice on the peripheral auditory system of vocal performers using otoscopy, pure-tone ...

Roulette‐Inspired Physical Unclonable Functions: Stochastic yet Deterministic Multi‐Bit Patterning through the Solutal Marangoni Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Geometric multi‐bit patterning based on dynamic wetting and dewetting phenomena creates roulette‐like Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) labels with stochastic yet deterministic properties. This method leverages the solutal‐Marangoni effect for high randomness while achieving deterministic multinary patterns through polygonal confinement of binary ...
