No-occupational exposure to noise.
Giornale italiano di medicina del lavoro ed ergonomia, 2005The aim of the research was to evaluate the risk for the health of the disco-goers related to no-professional exposition to noise produced by speakers of discos. The noise has been measured in the middle of a disco using a class 1 phonometer. The exposition level was calculated using the formula quoted in the D.Lgs 277/91 (Italian legislative decree ...

THE NOISE EXPOSURE OF INFANTS IN INCUBATORS.
Autumn Conference 1980, 1979The noise exposure of infants in incubators due to both services noise and self-generated noise has been measured in an investigation involving 45 incubators and 69 infants. Incubator services noise levels were consistent with those reported in previous surveys but the noise produced by the infants has been found to increase levels by approximately 8 ...

Occupational noise exposure was evaluated for eight fire fighter positions on board three types of emergency vehicles. One hundred seventy code-3responses were monitored and sound pressure levels in excess of 115 dBA found. Futhermore, sound pressures exceeding the OSHA allowable level of 90 dBA for eight hours exposure were determined.

Aircraft noise exposure and hypertension
Occupational and Environmental Medicine, 2016Increasing traffic by all modes of transport has led to a general rise in noise pollution. The European Environment Agency recently compared data on aircraft noise between 2007 and 2012, and observed that in Europe there had been a general increase in people exposed to aircraft noise.1 Over the last decade, a number of epidemiological studies have ...

Playback Experiments for Noise Exposure
2016Playbacks are a useful tool for conducting well-controlled and replicated experiments on the effects of anthropogenic noise, particularly for repeated exposures. However, playbacks are unlikely to fully reproduce original sources of anthropogenic noise.

Computation of permissible noise exposure
American Industrial Hygiene Association Journal, 1982The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has suggested permissible exposure to impulse noise, designating a maximum of 100 impulses for signals of 140 dB peak sound pressure level (SPL). Subsequently, for each 10 dB decrease in peak SPL (130, 120,110, etc.) the number of impulses may increase by a factor of 10.

Farmers' work-day noise exposure
Australian Journal of Rural Health, 2015This study aims to understand the extent of farmers' exposure to hazardous noise, and trial and test the ability of an on-farm noise audit report to improve awareness and preventative action towards farm based noise hazards.Visits were made to working farms where noise and dosimetry measurements undertaken.

Hypertension and Road Traffic Noise Exposure
Journal of Occupational & Environmental Medicine, 2007The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between road traffic noise exposure at home and the prevalence of hypertension. We conducted cross-sectional analyses in a large random sample (N=40,856) of inhabitants of Groningen City, and in a subsample (the Prevention of Renal and Vascular End-Stage Disease [PREVEND]) study cohort; N=8592 ...

Noise Exposure Criteria for Harbor Porpoises
2016Despite a major research effort, no generally accepted exposure limits are available for harbor porpoises. Recent studies of the temporary threshold shift (TTS) in porpoises indicate that the sound exposure levels (SELs) required to induce low levels of TTS depend on stimulus frequency and roughly parallel the shape of the audiogram.
