Association between Noise Exposure and Noise Disturbance in Construction Workers
Background: Noise as one of the common hazardous factors in the work environments, causes adverse effects on the mental health of individuals in addition to physical problems.

EMF-Constrained Artificial Noise for Secrecy Rates with Stochastic Eavesdropper Channels [PDF]
An information-theoretic confidential communication is achievable if the eavesdropper has a degraded channel compared to the legitimate receiver. In wireless channels, beamforming and artificial noise can enable such confidentiality. However, only distribution knowledge of the eavesdropper channels can be assumed.

Resistance imparted by vitamin C, vitamin e and vitamin B12 to the acute hepatic glycogen change in rats caused by noise. [PDF]
The effects of vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin B12 on the noise-induced acute change in hepatic glycogen content in rats were investigated. The exposure of rats to 95 dB and 110 dB of noise acutely reduced their hepatic glycogens.

Chromatin, which organizes DNA, changes its structure to adapt to stress like high oxygen levels (hyperoxia), which can damage cells. Researchers developed a technique to observe these changes and found variability in how different parts of chromatin remodel.

Exposure-Referred Signal-to-Noise Ratio for Digital Image Sensors [PDF]
The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is a fundamental tool to measure the performance of an image sensor. However, confusions sometimes arise between the two types of SNRs. The first one is the output-referred SNR which measures the ratio between the signal and the noise seen at the sensor's output.

Benchmarking Denoising Algorithms with Real Photographs
Lacking realistic ground truth data, image denoising techniques are traditionally evaluated on images corrupted by synthesized i.i.d. Gaussian noise.

Nocturnal air, road, and rail traffic noise and daytime cognitive performance and annoyance [PDF]
Various studies indicate that at the same noise level and during the daytime, annoyance increases in the order of rail, road, and aircraft noise. The present study investigates if the same ranking can be found for annoyance to nocturnal exposure and ...

Impact of daily noise exposure monitoring on occupational noise exposures in manufacturing workers [PDF]
Despite the use of hearing protection devices (HPDs), noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) remains one of the most prevalent occupational conditions. A new technology allows for daily monitoring of noise exposures under HPDs. We report on an intervention employing the voluntary use of this technology in a worksite setting.Volunteers were fitted with a ...
