A Theorem Concerning Noise Figures
IRE Transactions on Circuit Theory, 1956A theorem is formulated and proved which determines the greatest lower bound of the single-frequency noise figure of a general system consisting of n amplifying devices and passive coupling elements. According to the theorem, this lower bound is equal to the noise figure of an optimum system using a selected one of these amplifying devices.

Noise figure measurement of narrow-band low noise system
2017 16th International Conference on Optical Communications and Networks (ICOCN), 2017The standard core protocol of Narrow Band Internet of Things (NB-IOT) was approved by the RAN plenary session in June 16, 2016. Global operators have a standardized IOT proprietary protocol. The successful completion of the standardization work also marks that the NB-IOT has entered the commercial stage.

Amplifier noise figure optimization
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1968In the presence of lossy input filters, device noise figure data do not permit complete minimization of the amplifier noise figure F A . However, with L-filters such optimum can be obtained by a simple graphical construction on device noise figure records.

Analysis of noise parameters extraction from noise figure measurements
Proceedings of the 39th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002Noise characterization of active devices continues to be an area of increasing significance in the rapidly expanding field of RF wireless communications. The accuracy of noise parameter estimation is a challenging task, limited by the uncertainties in the noise (noise source and noise figure) measurements, the errors in the source admittance ...

Raman-noise-induced noise-figure limit for χ^(3) parametric amplifiers
Optics Letters, 2004The nonzero response time of the Kerr [chi(3)] nonlinearity determines the quantum-limited noise figure of chi(3) parametric amplifiers. This nonzero response time of the nonlinearity requires coupling of the parametric amplification process to a molecular-vibration phonon bath, causing the addition of excess noise through Raman gain or loss at ...

Noise figure display with succeeding-stage noise compensation
Proceedings of the IEEE, 1971Automatic display of noise figure by the usual method of noise reference modulation is limited to test objects with large power gain. It is shown that the noise contribution of succeeding stages is rendered ineffective when modulating the object under test.

Local Oscillator Noise Affects Noise Figure Measurement Accuracy
39th ARFTG Conference Digest, 1992Noise figure measurements are affected by amplitude modulated noise from local oscillators used in noise figure test systems. When testing microwave amplifiers or mixers/receivers, an external local oscillator(LO) is needed. For microwave amplifiers, the LO downconverts the noise to the noise figure meter's frequency range; while for mixers/receivers ...
