On transformation noise as a model for correlated noise

[Proceedings] ICASSP 91: 1991 International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1991
The authors consider transformation noise processes, which are those that can be generated by passing an underlying noise process through a memoryless invertible nonlinearity. They point out the close relationship between the dependency structure of the transformation noise and that of the underlying noise.

Urban noise model

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974
A model has been developed for predicting median levels of traffic noise in a variety of local conditions. Sound sources are grouped into two categories: major thoroughfares with average daily traffic volume greater than 5000 vehicles are considered individually as line sources with uniform distribution of traffic and all other streets are grouped into

IMPLICIT MODELING OF NOISE VERSUS THE USE OF A FIXED NOISE MODEL

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1990
Abstract In this paper two methods to take disturbances into account are discussed. The first method uses a fixed estimate T of the noise polynomial C of the ARMAX model. This approach is adopted by the Generalized Predictive Controller. The second method implicitly estimates the noise polynomial utilizing the implicit modeling theory.

A noise model for digitized data

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2000
The paper analyzes the overall conversion error of a noisy digitizer affected by Gaussian noise at its input or generated within the digitizer itself. It is shown that, under mild conditions concerning the ratio between the input noise standard deviation and the quantization step, the overall conversion error can be modeled by a Gaussian random ...

Polarimetric and interferometric noise modelling

IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2003
In this paper, a noise model for the extended six dimensions covariance matrix used in polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) interferometry is proposed. This noise model is able to interpret interferometric, as well as polarimetric noise characteristics for the diagonal and non-diagonal elements of the covariance matrix.

Noise modeling, noise experiment, and noise inversion

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005
Recent developments in inverting ambient noise to obtain bottom reflection properties originated from an understanding of noise behavior and from noise modeling. Sea-surface noise can be modeled equivalently as a ray, wave, or mode phenomenon, but often the ray or flux approach provides the most insight (explaining, e.g., the noise-notch or low ...
