On the Noise Complexity in an Optical Motion Capture Facility
Optical motion capture systems are state-of-the-art in motion acquisition; however, like any measurement system they are not error-free: noise is their intrinsic feature.

Influence of meteorological conditions on noise dispersion in the Port of Thessaloniki
Although noise dispersion models are widely used for the assessment of noise levels across different domains, the influence of meteorological conditions on environmental noise is usually neglected even though modelling requirements often list ...

Dynamic noise modeling at roundabouts [PDF]
Modeling spatial and temporal noise variations at roundabouts is a tedious task. Indeed, noise levels are strongly influenced by the complex vehicle interactions taking place at the entries. An accurate modeling of the merging process and its impact on vehicle kinematics, waiting time at the yield signs and queue length dynamics is therefore required ...

Are the comfort classes noise and vibration levels on board really suitable?
In shipbuilding industry, comfort is a relevant issue both for crew members and passengers. A comfortable environment enables crew members to perform accurately their tasks and it is an effective factor contributing to the satisfaction of passengers ...

On the Accuracy in Modeling the Statistical Distribution of Random Telegraph Noise Amplitude
The power consumption of digital circuits is proportional to the square of operation voltage and the demand for low power circuits reduces the operation voltage towards the threshold of MOSFETs.

UAV Noise Emission—A Combined Experimental and Numerical Assessment
Noise emission will be a significant obstacle to the widespread uptake of unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs. The assessment and mitigation of UAV noise will require validated modelling approaches.

Alternators have recently been introduced as a framework for modeling time-dependent data. They often outperform other popular frameworks, such as state-space models and diffusion models, on challenging time-series tasks. This paper introduces a new Alternator model, called Alternator++, which enhances the flexibility of traditional Alternators by ...

On the nonlinear modeling of shot noise [PDF]
We introduced a nonlinear shot-noise model, a natural generalization of the “classic” shot-noise model, which differs markedly from the existing linear shot-noise models. This model produces a wide spectrum of stationary noise processes. Because of its intrinsic nonlinearity, the model's resulting noise processes are capable of displaying a rich ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
