Remote construction noise monitoring.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
Los Angeles was constructing an underground 12 ft in diameter sewage tunnel stretching 25 km. The project includes nine construction access shafts where tunnel boring machines, muck trains, and materials were lowered into the ground. The excavated tunnel material was transported from the tunnel head to the access shafts by muck train, removed by a ...

Rocket-Noise Monitoring System

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1966
This report describes the performance of a system designed to meet the specific requirements of monitoring rocket noise in communities located miles from the test site. The pole-mounted remote stations were designed to transmit their signal via normal telephone voice channel.

Aircraft Noise Monitoring at Airports

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1980
Aircraft noise nuisance, particularly in the vicinity of airports, makes it necessary to monitor aircraft noise continuously. As with all kinds of other monitoring installations used in environmental protection, aircraft noise monitoring also contributes to the reporting, investigation and prevention of nuisance and damage. Specific tasks are generated

Traffic monitoring by tire noise

Proceedings of Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 1999
Presents the results of work of Planning Systems Inc. performed in fulfilment of the requirements of a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase I feasibility study for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The feasibility of developing an acoustic sensing technique to replace the current electro-mechanical (loop detector, tape switch ...

Development of Reactor Noise Monitor

Journal of Nuclear Science and Technology, 1979
A reactor noise monitor has been developed to provide a tool that serves the real time routine function of detecting anomalous states of operation in power reactors. In this monitor, RMS (root mean square) values and average frequencies of noise signals are calculated on a real time basis.

Airport noise monitoring ‐ a review

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1997
Suggests that before measurement of noise can be implemented all “non‐aircraft noises” must be eliminated. Sets out various approaches to the problem of airport noise: the acoustic companies’ approach; the systems companies’ approach; systems costs; flight identification and correlation; and noise monitoring.
