Fast adaptive switching technique of impulsive noise removal in color images

open access: yesJournal of Real-Time Image Processing, 2019
In the paper, a family of switching filters designed for the impulsive noise removal in color images is analyzed. The framework of the proposed denoising techniques is based on the concept of cumulated distances between the processed pixel and its ...

Feasibility and Tolerability of Performing Portable MRI for Neurological Disorders in an Outpatient Neurology Clinic: A Prospective Cohort

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Accessing brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can be challenging, especially for underserved patients, which may lead to disparities in neurological diagnosis. Method This mixed‐methods study enrolled adults with one of four neurological disorders: mild cognitive impairment or dementia of the Alzheimer type, multiple sclerosis ...

Adaptive Sequentially Weighted Median Filter for Image Highly Corrupted by Impulse Noise

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
To tackle the difficulties in the detection and removal of impulse noise faced by the existing filters, and to further improve the denoising performance, we propose an adaptive sequentially weighted median filter for image corrupted by impulse noise.

Knee Crepitus and Osteoarthritis Features in Young Adults Following Traumatic Knee Injury

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study explored the association between knee crepitus and the presence, and worsening, of structural osteoarthritis features and self‐reported outcomes in young adults following traumatic knee injury. Methods One year following anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR), 112 participants (41 female participants; median age 28 years ...

Hopfield Neural Networks for Online Constrained Parameter Estimation With Time‐Varying Dynamics and Disturbances

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This paper proposes two projector‐based Hopfield neural network (HNN) estimators for online, constrained parameter estimation under time‐varying data, additive disturbances, and slowly drifting physical parameters. The first is a constraint‐aware HNN that enforces linear equalities and inequalities (via slack neurons) and continuously tracks the ...

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.

Adaptive Cross-Modal Denoising: Enhancing LiDAR–Camera Fusion Perception in Adverse Circumstances

open access: yesSensors
Autonomous vehicles (AVs) rely on LiDAR and camera sensors to perceive their environment. However, adverse weather conditions, such as rain, snow, and fog, negatively affect these sensors, reducing their reliability by introducing unwanted noise ...

Trace Nickel Activated Biphasic Core‐CuOii/Shell‐CuOi Secondary Microspheres Enable Room Temperature Parts‐Per‐Trillion‐Level NO2 Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An idea of designing novel sensors is proposed by creating appropriate Schottky barriers and vacancies between isomorphous Core‐CuOii/ Shell‐CuOi secondary microspheres and enhancing catalytic and spill‐over effects, and electronegativity via spontaneous biphasic separation, self‐assembly, and trace‐Ni‐doping.

Solutions of fourth-order partial differential equations in a noise removal model

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
In this paper, we discuss the existence and uniqueness of weak solutions for a fourth-order partial differential equation stemmed from image processing for noise removal. We also present some numerical tests for high order filters.

Nonconvex Low Rank Approximation With Phase Congruency Regularization for Mixed Noise Removal

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Mixed noise removal from a natural image is a challenging task since the complex noise distribution usually is inestimable. Many noise removal methods based on the low rank approximation have an excellent image denoising performance and are effective for
