Optimal Coherence Length Control in Interferometric Fiber Optic Hydrophones via PRBS Modulation: Theory and Experiment

open access: yesSensors
Interferometric fiber optic hydrophones (IFOHs) are highly sensitive for underwater acoustic detection but face challenges owing to the trade-off between laser monochromaticity and coherence length.

Complex Cryptographic and User‐Centric Physically Unclonable Functions Enabled by Strain‐Sensitive Nanocrystals via Selective Ligand Exchange

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates electromechanical PUFs that improve on traditional electric PUFs. The electron transport materials are coated randomly through selective ligand exchange. It produces multiple keys and a key with motion dependent on percolation and strain, and approaches almost ideal inter‐ and intra‐hamming distances.

Low-Noise Airfoils for Turbomachinery Applications: Two Examples of Optimization

open access: yesInternational Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power
Automotive fans, small wind turbines, and manned and unmanned aerial vehicles (MAVs/UAVs) are just a few examples in which noise generated by the flow’s interaction with aerodynamic surfaces is a major concern.

Line Spectral Frequency-based Noise Suppression for Speech-Centric Interface of Smart Devices

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2011
This paper proposes a noise suppression technique for speech-centric interface of various smart devices. The proposed method estimates noise spectral magnitudes from line spectral frequencies (LSFs), using the observation that adjacent LSFs correspond ...

Noise suppressing sensor encoding and neural signal orthonormalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper we regard first the situation where parallel channels are disturbed by noise. With the goal of maximal information conservation we deduce the conditions for a transform which "immunizes" the channels against noise influence before the ...

Electrically Tunable On‐Chip Topological Photonics with Integrated Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates electrically tunable on‐chip topological THz devices by integrating 2D carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets with valley‐Hall photonic crystals, enabling broadband transmission modulation (71% modulation depth) and tunable narrowband filtering (0.54 GHz shift) through electrically induced thermal tuning. This advancement paves the way for

Innovative Demodulation Scheme for Coherent Detectors in CMB Experiments

open access: yes, 2012
We propose an innovative demodulation scheme for coherent detectors used in cosmic microwave background polarization experiments. Removal of non-white noise, e.g., narrow-band noise, in detectors is one of the key requirements for the experiments.

Phase Change Material‐Driven Tunable Metasurface for Adaptive Terahertz Sensing and Communication in 6G Perceptive Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the benefits of metasurfaces made from functional materials, highlighting their ability to be adapted and improved for various high‐frequency applications, including communications and sensing. It first demonstrates the potential of these functional material‐based metasurfaces to advance the field of sub‐THz perceptive networks ...
