Counter-Interception and Counter-Exploitation Features of Noise Radar Technology

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
In defense applications, the main features of radars are the Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) and the Low Probability of Exploitation (LPE). The counterpart uses more and more capable intercept receivers and signal processors thanks to the ongoing ...

Interaural coherence for noise bands: Waveforms and envelopes [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2010
This paper reports the results of experiments performed in an effort to find a formulaic relationship between the interaural waveform coherence of a band of noise γW and the interaural envelope coherence of the noise band γE. An interdependence described by γE=π/4+(1−π/4)(γW)2.1 is found.

Use and Abuse of the Fisher Information Matrix in the Assessment of Gravitational-Wave Parameter-Estimation Prospects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The Fisher-matrix formalism is used routinely in the literature on gravitational-wave detection to characterize the parameter-estimation performance of gravitational-wave measurements, given parametrized models of the waveforms, and assuming detector ...

Removing noise and overlapping spikes from extracellular recordings using a regularized denoising autoencoder

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2023
One of the difficulties in sorting extracellularly recorded neuronal action potentials, known as spikes, is noise from several sources superimposed on the target spike.

Closed form metrics to accurately model the response in general arbitrarily-coupled RC trees. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Closed form expressions are presented for the first and second moment of the impulse response for arbitrarily-coupled RC trees with multiple drivers, and used to generate accurate second order estimations of the transfer function from any driver to the ...

Global‐Scale Full‐Waveform Ambient Noise Inversion [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 2020
AbstractWe present the first application of full‐waveform ambient noise inversion to observed correlation functions that jointly constrains 3‐D Earth structure and heterogeneous noise sources. For this, we model and interpret ambient noise correlations as recordings of correlation wavefields, which completely eliminates the limiting assumptions of ...

Time–frequency characteristics of abnormal waveshapes in PD pulse sequence using ultra-wideband detection

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
In the present study, a HVDC PD test platform with bandwidth of 10 kHz–50 MHz and 250 MS/s sampling rate is built for the ultra-wideband (UWB) detection and investigation of time–frequency (T–F) characteristics of abnormal waveshapes or waveforms in PD ...

Inferring the core-collapse supernova explosion mechanism with three-dimensional gravitational-wave simulations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A detection of a core-collapse supernova signal with an Advanced LIGO and Virgo gravitational-wave detector network will allow us to measure astrophysical parameters of the source.

Chirp Signals and Noisy Waveforms for Solid-State Surveillance Radars

open access: yesAerospace, 2017
Since the advent of “pulse compression” radar, the “chirp” signal (Linear Frequency Modulation, LFM) has been one of the most widely used radar waveforms.

On the Analysis of PM/FM Noise Radar Waveforms Considering Modulating Signals with Varied Stochastic Properties

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Noise Radar technology is the general term used to describe radar systems that employ realizations of a given stochastic process as transmit waveforms. Originally, carriers modulated in amplitude by a Gaussian random signal, derived from a hardware noise
