“Humanizar”: aprendizajes sobre alteridad, salud y futuro en una experiencia de investigación compartida

open access: yesThe Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology, Volume 31, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The visit to Bogotá of a fééeneminaa (Muinane) friend, Célimo Nejedeka Jifichíu, and in particular, his work in researching and transmitting traditional health knowledge, offer the pretext to navigate the relationship between elements that at first glance seem distant from each other: indigenous imaginaries about otherness, their visions of ...

Faunistic inventory of the genus Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) in Mauritius Island, Indian Ocean: Diversity and spatial distribution of species of veterinary interest Inventaire faunistique du genre Culicoides (Diptera: Ceratopogonidae) sur l'île Maurice dans l'océan Indien: diversité et répartition spatiale des espèces présentant un intérêt vétérinaire

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, Volume 40, Issue 2, Page 282-293, June 2026.
Four Afrotropical Culicoides species are recorded in Mauritius with suspected or historically involvement in BTV and EHDV transmission. All species were distributed all over the island. While intra‐specific morphological variations were detected, genetic analyses did not reveal any cryptic diversity. Abstract Viruses transmitted by biting midge species

Sensory Acceptability of Functional Probiotic Beverages Made from Underutilized Tropical Fruits Rich in Vitamins and Minerals

open access: yesBeverages
This study aimed to formulate probiotic beverages using underutilized tropical fruit pulp, such as those of sincuya (Annona purpurea Moc. & Sessé ex Dunal), urraco (Licania platypus (Hemsl.) Fritsch), matasano (Casimiroa edulis La Llave y Lex), and ...

Patterns of River Flow Regulation Across the World's Climate Regions

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 5, May 2026.
We quantify the Impoundment Ratio (IR) for 16 060 dams worldwide to assess how reservoir capacity relative to natural runoff varies across climate regions. One‐third of dams have IR ≥ 1, with the highest values in arid and semi‐arid zones and clear national contrasts within similar climates.

Passive environmental DNA sampling: A review of current practices, limitations and future directions for biodiversity monitoring

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1535-1555, May 2026.
Abstract Passive environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling is rapidly emerging as a powerful alternative to active sampling methods (e.g. direct water sampling), with a rapidly growing diversity of tested approaches but little methodological convergence.

Stable variable selection for right censored data: comparison of methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The instability in the selection of models is a major concern with data sets containing a large number of covariates. This paper deals with variable selection methodology in the case of high-dimensional problems where the response variable can be right ...

BIEN: A biodiversity informatics ecosystem advancing open and reproducible workflows for plant observation, plot and trait data

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 5, Page 1556-1584, May 2026.
Abstract The rapid expansion of biodiversity data presents new opportunities to understand and forecast biosphere dynamics. However, disparate and dispersed data, taxonomic and geographic inconsistencies, pervasive quality issues, and a lack of reproducable workflows hinder synthesis, introduce biases and limit accurate assessment of biodiversity ...
